I agree that you are going to be very busy this fall
I am mom to seven kiddos, the youngest being 7 month old boy/girl twins born just a little premature (7 weeks) and in the winter. That said, twins sometimes do come a little early. Also, flu/virus season would not be the time to have them out in crowds etc. if they are small and susceptible to the germs. We were basically told by the docs to keep them in for the winter.
Now, they now travel all over with us and of course love to visit the mouse. Is it easy? No. Is it doable? Yes. Harder for us since we also have a just turned two year old.
But, through trial and error it becomes easier and we have two upcoming trips to see the mouse and their first cruise booked.
One suggestion about the sleeping. When ours were born the nurses suggested when one wakes up at night, wake the other and feed them together. I got much more sleep this way and by four months they were sleeping pretty solid. Take all the help you are offered and remember it gets much easier around six months (at least for me).
Havent had any help and my dh isnt home very often and I am still partially sane
Congratulations on the upcoming twinkies and just remember you cant plan on too much with newborn twins so make sure if you do decide to go it is all cancellable/transferrable if something arises.
My personal vote would be wait at least until spring
