Newbies - why did you decide on DISCon

I thought it would be interesting to know the answer to this and you know how "nosey" I can be:

I originally would have liked to have gone to the first DISCon but money wasn't on my side and I was too late to budget for it etc. I lurked on the DISCon threads and was immensly jealous that I hadn't gone, I saw the photos posted and thought these guys look like they had a magical time and I want some of that.

So this year I made a point of putting it in my calendar and making sure I planned for it and felt even more committed by entering the DISCon Boards and talking to everyone and that whole feeling of being welcomed has been great.........

.....So good that I originally was coming 3rd to 9th December and now I've extended my stay from 2nd to 13th just so I get the chance to spend some great times with some great people.


So how about you other Newbies.....?

I decided to attend DISCon because I usually go to WDW with either family, friends, or alone. No one I travel with shares my enthusiasm, OK, I'll admit it--my obsession--with Disney. I thought it might be fun to spend some time with others who feel the same way I do. (The first sight of Main St! The castle at night! Just the feeling of being at WDW!)

I am really looking forward to December and meeting my DISCon friends!

Well, I was supposed to attend last year, but due to unfortunate circumstances, I wasn't able to...so this year I will definitely be there!

hey sam I just got lucky.I booked my vacation not knowing it was the same week of discon.now not only I will be at bcv but I will be spending it with a great bunch of people!! the countdown is under way people!!!

We were at WDW during DISCon 1. We found the DIS about 2 weeks before. Dan the Man Murphy had a meet for Princess Michelle's birthday and it was the day before DW's. He kept telling us to join them. We did for a short while and he and the others made us feel so welcomed and talk with us like we have known each other here for months. So we are doing DISCon 2. We love the first week after Thanksgiving so this is a plus for us. See you all in Dec.

After reading all the posts from last year and seeing all the pictures, either the ones posted here or Barb's, there was no way I was going to miss this one. I can not wait to meet everyone and for the ones I already know, I can't wait to see you all again.

Because we had already planned our New Years trip before the dates for DISCon I were announced, I couldn't afford to go twice in one month - even though I was one of the thinkers of getting this going....chatting one lonely night in chat with Marsha and some others we had this great idea!!!! So there was NO WAY at all I was going to miss it this year!!!!!!! And to be able to meet all these wonderful people......WHO COULD MISS THIS???!!! NOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is --- Ditto to Fantasia Sam and MdmMim! Couldn't have said it better! I wasn't going to miss this one - even if I had to go by myself!

Actually, I've been looking for a time to get away with DH - it will be the first time in 19 years, and I've always wanted to see WDW at Christmas time. We haven't been as fortunate as others to have grandparents willing to take care of the boys so we could get away.

Unfortunately, my youngest son is having "the wants". He's my Disney buddy, and is very jealous of us going to WDW without him. It reminds me of the Disney commercial where the mother is talking on the phone saying, "It's just your Dad and me this time" (or something close), and then the picture switches to the "son" - a grown man in his office. My youngest isn't quite that old, but since his high school is set up in "block" fashion, he would be missing the equivalent of 2 weeks of school.

I didn't do the official registration for the DisCon... but I will be attending afew mini-meets. I'm hooked up already for DaveH's mini-meet and Figmentvi's mini-meet.

Reason I joined: I thought it would be nice to meet a group of people that seem awesome!

I stumbled upon this board in early summer. The posts were funny and entertaining, so I kept coming back. It didn’t take long ‘til I started wanting to go, too, to be part of all the fun.

Also, I had figured that my next trip would be solo. This way, I can go and I won’t really be alone.

Yes I am officially going and I can't wait to meet even more people!!! I have a few people that I REALLY want to give a good hug too, they are WAY overdue!!

I have been reading the Dis boards for years and we also happened to have a vacation set for Nov 30-Dec 7th ( we will now stay til the 8th!!) and saw a post about DisCon, and just had to meet some of the people here at DIS!!!


Plus, Glo offered a free drink to the next person who registered, so I thought, that would be great to!


We will be staying at the BWV and I cannot wait to meet everyone!!

Jdubbs, Are you also staying at the BWV? Are you doing MVMCP any day? We are thinking we will do it on Dec 3rd (tuesday), but have not gotten our tickets yet.
