Newbie with Resale question

We are looking into becoming DVC Members.
I was looking at the resales and a couple questions came to mind.

1. If points have been banked from 2008, can I re-bank them?

2. If the use year is October, does that mean the points must be used or banked by October? I have not got my info. from Disney yet, so I'm not sure what exactly use year means.

You can only bank points one year. If you have an October use year, you have to bank them by April because you have 6 months prior to end of use year to bank 100% of your points. You can use the October use year points anytime before the next October rolls around.

it's now 4 months prior to the end of the use year when your banking window closes.

Remember that your Use Year refers to when you receive your annual allotment of points. In your case, you would get XXX number of points every October. Keep in mind that your UY doesn't prevent you from staying any other month of the year (like typical timeshares do), only that you have to make a decision within 4 months from the end of your UY what you're going to do with your remaining points. also, if you expect to travel a lot in july/august/september, you may want to look for a different UY.

ideally, it's better to get a UY where you don't travel much the three months prior. but if you never cancel a reservation, use year probably won't matter that much.
