Hello everyone...this is our first family trip to DW and we are going from November 18-23!!! I just booked this last week and realize that it's pretty hard getting an character dining at the 4 major parks.

We are a family of 6 (me, wife, 2 boys-11 & 7, 2 girls-9 & 3) and I really want to make reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table. It's more for my wife and 2 girls. My question is this, should I just focus on trying to look for reservations for 3 or for all 6 of us? I'm new to all this and really want to get the 3 of them in there...I don't think the boys really want to do that. I guess I was just thinking that if there's a table for 6 kool but is it harder to find a table for 6 than it is for 3?

I just need advice on how to search for these things.

Thanks!!!

Mike

Most people say it's easier to go with even numbers. I would at least search for 4. Then, you can edit down to 3. There are some great cancellation threads here so be sure to subscribe to them. You can go into your settings and set your preferences to subscribe to a thread, how often you want to be notified when something is posted and be sure to read the first post on the cancellation thread! Asking for a ressie is a no no, but if someone posts they've seen one or have one to cancel, you can PM them and try to coordinate a time. You need 10 posts to PM someone and remember to post to the thread itself to subscribe.
Above all, don't give up! remember, they now charge no show fees, and CRT may well be a 2 day cancellation, and I'm not sure if it's 10.00 per person or more if you don't cancel in time. Also check around 45 days before your vacation is to start. There are some who book vacations and for some reason or other are unable to go, so they cancel at 45 days out. Read some of the threads; it will give you lots of hope. Another good restaurant is Akershus in Norway because there are princesses there (usually Aurora, Snow White and Belle), and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian because at night it is Cinderella and the Prince.

I was in this same boat and originally just booked it for the two of us (myself and DD3) for the first res I saw but kept looking for a party of 4 to add DH and DS6 (you would want 6 of course). You know your family best so you can decide it the others would enjoy it or not. For us I decided all of us were going because even though my son doesn't like princesses he would feel left out of a special experience if I went just with DD3 to dinner in the castle. It is, however really expensive and hard to get. If they really aren't interested make sure there is a plan for where the others will eat and what the others will do while the others are at CRT.

Best advice is to keep looking online as much as possible for cancellations; I saw several come up around the 2 month mark. I scored pretty much all mine in the afternoon/early evening. Search for different amounts of people ie, 2, 4 or 6 and take what you can get initially. Also if you just want to go to CRT don't limit yourself to one meal. Breakfast is really coveted and the only cancellations I've ever seen for our trip in October have been for dinner (and I check cancellations a lot). Also if you have a res for less people sometimes you can call and add people. Going from 2 to 6 probably won't happen but I have called twice for my CRT res and both times they were willing to add a 5th person...

Also subscribe to the November ADR cancellation thread a lot of people have been help by those threads

Best of luck!
