Newbie ? Why DVC Members change resorts?

I am really confused. Why do I see so many DVC members Having 3 different resorts for the same vacation. Example: Dec 26 2004 till 31Dec 2004. Then 31 Dec till 2nd Jan ***. Then 2nd of Jan till &th Jan 2005. Thanks for any information b/c dh and I are very confused!!

Some people just like the variety. Disney will move your luggage for you, so as long as you don't mind not having a room for part of a day (11am to roughly 4pm), it's not a huge inconvenience.

Some are forced to do so if they can't get all of the nights they want at a single resort.

For others, it's simple economics. Point costs are higher on the weekends--high enough that it's often worthwhile to pay cash for a room on the weekends. If you're going to be at WDW for 12 nights--say Sunday to the following Friday, you could do something like this:

Sun - Thurs: Studio at BWV
Fri - Sat: Cash room at Contemp
Sun - Thurs: Studio at OKW

We've tried resort hopping and didn't care for it. Too much inconvenience with young kids. Maybe when we...I mean THEY...grow up.

DH & I are going to stay in 3 different resorts for our anniversary in 2006. We are going to stay DVC sun-thurs, then the weekend (fri & sat) at Poly, then sun-thurs at another DVC resort. We want to try all 3 places, and since we will be there so long, switching won't be a big deal. Our anniversary day & night will be spent at the Poly and I've always wanted to stay there, so this makes sense for us!

It's all in what you like. We often will go for 9-12 nights, and HATE to move, so we do all of them at one place. Last October, we decided last minute to add a couple of nights on the front end of our trip, and all we could get was Friday and Saturday at SSR, so we packed accordingly, and just took out the few things we needed for those two nights.

A couple of friends and I decided to do a quick trip over Mothers' Day weekend. We could get a studio at OKW for Saturday and Monday but NOTHING was available for Sunday. So we're moving three times - OKW - Yacht CLub (cash) - OKW.

Not a big deal. Disney will move the luggage while we go out and play!
