We have become DVC members and I thought about getting lanyards and pins for the kids and I. However as newbies I dont want to spend a ton to start, but need more than just one or 2 pins. Maybe when we are more into we will want special ones, but for now I want generic ones the kids and I won't mind giving away.
I looked a little on ebay and disneyshopping. ebay, many ads dont say if it is official disney stuff or not and it seems to be one pin at a time buying..shipping alone will kill ya that way. Disney shopping has some sets..but 6 pins with 5 of us won't stretch far and the thought of breaking up a set of any kind seems wrong somehow.
So, where can a newbie buy cheap tho "official' disney pins in a bulk way?

I've seen posts on here about online shops where you can bunches at the same time but I'm more of a collector and have more experience on eBay so maybe somebody can help you out with links. Otherwise, try adding "lots" (just be careful not to buy lots or from people who have a large amount of the same pin.) to your search and it should pop up those auctions that are selling more than one at a time. Many sellers also combine shipping and will give discounts if you buy extra pins from them.

Disney's shopping site and outlet also has free shipping on Mondays and comes out with %off discounts every little while as well as the usual seasonal sales and such.

It might be nice to pick up a few special pins just to start the "to keep" collection and spark interest though :) It's pretty random what you can pick up from trading at the park!

Ok thanks to some helpful folks here I got some pins for the family. My question is some of the pins we would like to keep and would like to wear while at Disney. I am not in the current mode of wearing more than one lanyard..is it acceptable to have one side of your lanyard as "keepers" and the other side for trading? Or what is the proper procedure for this?

Also, i got a lanyard that is part of a set and has one pin with it. No interest in keeping the pin and could care less about the lanyard keep or trade..what do folks do with those? trade the whole thing? Hate to break the set up--someone else may like it.

The lanyard has the clip on the end..what are folks hooking to those clips?

Little plastic pockets that hold your keys, tickets, etc. OR a lanyard medal. Which lanyard/pin is it, I made be interested in trading with you.

thanks...what about how to wear pins you dont want to trade?

You never have to trade a pin if you don't want to - only CMs are required to trade if it is a Disney pin and they don't already have it on their lanyard. :thumbsup2 We wear our "keepers" and "traders" all mixed together. :teeth:

In all the years my kids have been trading, only once has a guest approached them - DD had one of the fairies from Sleeping Beauty and a woman wanted it so badly that she offered to take DD into the nearest store and buy her any pin she wanted! Even so, she was very sweet about telling DD she didn't have to trade if she didn't want to. :) DD traded in a heartbeat since the fairie was a trader I got for her on ebay and she collects Mickey.
