I posted a few questions for the first time on this forum yesterday, but I still have a few more. Thanks again to jtanddolly for your reply yesterday; you were a great help! So here goes again...

1.I've noticed that a few DISigners say to please don't quote their design back to them. I want to make sure I understand this so that I don't do it. Does that mean don't copy the picture to show you what I'm requesting but to only request w/ words?

2. Never have made an iron-on t-shirt. Other than using transfer paper, is there anything special you have to do with the image when printing it?

3. I printed off some paper chain links for a countdown. (Super cute!!!) When I printed them, the colors weren't as bright and crisp as on the computer. Is this to be expected, or do I need to use different paper, special ink cart., instead of coyping and printing tranfering it to photoshop first, etc.?

4. Do people usually just print everything off their printer on paper or cardstock and use a bunch of ink? (I can foresee finding lots of fun projects to make and I can also hear my husband already having a heart failure over the cost of the ink cartridges).

Sorry so many questions. I know some may seem simple and obvious, but to a new (but very excited) person to this creative corner I just want to get it all right. Thanks in advance for the help!!!!!

I recommend getting the transfers from amymickey.com. They are the best I have seen yet and don't cost much more than the ones at Wal-Mart.

Some send there stuff to different office supply places for printing.:thumbsup2

Yes. Mostly it is for people that love a DISign and instead of hitting "reply" to say thanks. They hit quote which reshows everything that was typed and the picture. The reason DISigners ask for images to not be quoted is that it takes up space in their photobuckets which is limited with all of the DISign work that they do and it uses up bandwidth. If you can it is best to not repost their pictures. Hope that makes sense. A lot of DISigners not only do the work for free but they also pay out of their own pocket for extra storage on sharing sites like photobucket and 4shared. That is why it is super important to thank DISigners as they are paying to help you.

It really depends on what paper you use. Read the instructions that come with it and they will tell you everything. You should always prewash the t-shirts to get the sizing out and don't use fabric softener.

Everyone's computer screens and printers are different. You might do a trial run and if you aren't happy with the colors...it is possibly your printer. If you use photoshop you can always enhance the colors before printing if you know they are going to be dull.

A lot of people save the autograph pages as jpegs and print them at photo stores like Walmart or Walgreens on 4x6 sheets of photo paper. This saves a lot of money over printing them at home. For other things most people print at home as copy shops like Kinkos and Staples will not print them as it is illegal to profit from Disney images...which is why DISigners do everything for free. Occasionally someone will find a copy shop that will print their Disney things but it is usually an employee that doesn't know the rules.

Hope that answers these questions. Every newbie has the same questions...so feel free to ask away. They are all good questions.

Do you just save what you want to print on a usb drive or a cd and take into an office supply place to be copied?

jtanddolly, we posted at the same time, or I would have said thanks to you for so kindly answering all of my questions again today. You're great!!!!

You have probably already read it...but most (not all) copy shops will not print Disney images. You may get lucky and find one but most don't as it is illegal to print Disney images and profit from it so most chain print shops like Kinkos and Staples will not print them. Occasionally people will find ones that will but it is because the employee does not know their company rules on Disney images.

If you want to try it check with the copy shop and find out what devices they can print from and if they will print Disney images.

I second...get Amy's transfer paper! www.amymickey.com It is a little more expensive but if you want to wear the t-shirts more than once and not worry about cracking, colors running or fading...hers are the best that I have used and I have tried HP, Avery and generic brands from Walmart and Hobby Lobby.

Good to know about the copyright issue w/ the copy places--that hadn't dawned on me yet. I'll check into purchasing Amy's transfers; I just hope I don't mess up a shirt I make!!! I'm excited about the projects I'm thinking of doing--just nervous about messing things up. Thanks everyone for all the help!
