Newbie trying to figure it all out - VGC??

Great news! Congratulations!

What date were all of your papers signed and money wired?

I haven't heard back today about a closing date and it's 5pm in FL now so I don't suspect I will. I'm just antsy but I'm pretty sure nothing can fall through this far into it......right? Or at least, not super likely. And we have plenty of time before our booking window.

For fun today, I was plotting out possible trips for the next few years. We may try to sneak in a visit to Vero Beach or HHI if we have some spare points one year. My son hasn't had any actual beach vacations so it would be interesting to see if it's something he'd enjoy or not.

Ope...spoke too soon. Just got an email and our closing date is next Monday, April 10th. Woohoo!!

Also, it's the escrow processor, Emily, that's been emailing with me instead of Cammy. I had emailed them both a question last week and Emily was just more responsive and super sweet.

Love the beach idea! Great way to use the points!

Yeah, I'd definitely need to research more to figure out if HHI or Vero would be a better fit for us. But I do like the idea of checking them out! My husband grew up in southern California and is just "meh" about beach trips but he still seems open to the idea. And these beaches seem much different than the ones he's used to.

I think HH has good golf nearby if he is into that.

I have no idea when the seller returned the docs. I broke my own rule and wired the money before we went on our DLand trip just in case the seller returned the docs when we were still on vacation.

Nah, we aren't golf people. On vacations we're pretty low key and just like to drive around and look at stuff. Or walk on trails or things outdoors. I do think if we do Vero Beach my husband will want to visit Kennedy Space Center since it's not super far away. So it might win out simply because of that.

So how long after wiring the money did you close? Looks like for us it will be 12 days...but that includes 2 weekends.

I wired the money on the 22nd, but the only thing that matters is when the sellers returned the paperwork and got in the que to be processed.

Our sellers signed on the 27th and we wired the funds on the 29th. I saw some people closed just a day or two after all that but I guess maybe they are backed up now.

So when we were originally considering DVC, we were going to wait until our taxes were done because last year we owed a LOT. And we figured if we owed a bunch again, maybe we'd push off DVC since we are also currently doing various things around our house. Just so we could spread out the spending a bit.

But once we saw some good contracts, we decided to go for it. And I am so glad we did! We finally got our taxes done and we don't owe anything at all. If we had waited until now...there wouldn't be many good contracts to choose from. Only a couple with the UY/points we want and the asking prices are all over $260pp. Most have been sitting for several months and in one case, over a year!

So yeah...really happy with our decision. And as soon as it's closed and the deed is recorded, I will have a big sigh of relief!

Really looking forward to several years of Disney vacations!!

I remember when I started researching...some sites said you should research and whatnot for at least 7 months before purchasing. Oops!

To be fair, I'm not working so I had a lot of free time to research while my son was at school.

Yep...and I partly blame my husband who really, REALLY wanted to find a way to stay at the GC on all future trips.

There ya go - blame it on the husband and the kid! :p

I'm checking https://cr.ocgov.com/recorderworks/ to see when our deed is recorded and so far nothing.

I'm searching our last name. But then I also searched dates and it doesn't show that anything was recorded last Friday or yesterday. Weird.
It can take a bit of time to show up online. I just checked and our contract from 4/3 is on there now. Maybe give it a week.

Good to know. I just found it interesting that when I search April 6th, it says my results exceeded 448 records. Then April 7th...0. When I saw this yesterday, I thought for sure I'd see results pop up for the 7th today meaning maybe we're just a day or two behind that. But maybe not. I'm just excited to see it on there. Ha!

(I'm also currently obsessively checking on our tax refund status. I have no patience.)
