Newbie that just bought into AKV

Hello Everyone,

I just got back last night from my stay at WDW and I went on a tour of the properties while there and I bought into AKV. I must say that I went there with the intentions on buying into BLT (1- I love MK, and 2-the maintenance being more than $1 per pt cheaper), however the incentives at AKV were just too good for me to pass up.

I have been debating for awhile now whether or not to become a DVC owner and I finally took the plunge! I have been going to WDW for most of my life, which I admit isn't very long (25 yrs) and I can never get enough. I have worked for the company in the past and I recently got rehired seasonally at WOD NYC and I knew if I didn't join now I would be regretting it.

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself because I am sure that we will be talking in the near future.

One last thing....

I received 160 contractor pt's to be used at SSR, I know that they have to be used within 1 yr of my contract date my question is do I have to worry about banking them into 2009?

Hi Lisa ! CONGRATS and WELCOME HOME !

As for banking the developer points---no you don't have to. They must be used 1 year from the time you became a Member though. They will not show up in your available points on the Member's site either. I have to use mine by next Sept 20.

We just used our developer points at SSR too and it was gorgeous!! you will love it there!

AKV is such a beautiful resort!!! You will be blown away when you actually go there!

I got sold on DVC membership by staying at Sarasota Springs last year, it was great, so laid back from the hustle and bustle.

Never count on MFs being cheaper in the long term and personally as a AKV owner, I can also say that point to point, you need less of them at AKV for a similar accomodation in BLT which helps dillute the MF difference.

I noticed that, and that was another reason why I decided to go ahead with AKV- I highly doubt that I will be disappointed!

Nope you won't be disappointed at all. I am in the exact same boat. I am also 25 and just purchased my first DVC. It was a wonderful birthday present to myself.
