Newbie tag question

Sorry if I appear ignorant- I looked in the FAQ section and didn't find an answer.

I noticed that under user names, there are different things listed. I think I have the concept of the Tag Fairy down- those are the sayings and such in color under the names.

My question has to do with the other things in black. Under my user mane, it says 'welcome guest' and others say 'DIS veteran', etc. What do these mean? Are they tied to the number of replies posted? When does status change?

Just curious- thanks!

I believe you are a Welcomed Guest until your 75th post -- then you become a DIS Veteran, and you can change your own tag then.

You are correct - colored ones are sent by the Tag Fairy (you just have to wait around for them - no begging!)

the black ones are defaulted to welcomed guests then (after I THINK 50 posts - maybe 75) it changed to Dis Veteren. however - you can change this text yourself.

At the top of this screen - click on USER CP.
Then click on EDIT PROFILE
Scroll down about half way - right under "user birthday" is the "Custom User Text" field

It'll say what's currently there - and a blank box to enter in whatever you want.

Thanks! I think I'll leave the 'welcomed guest' status on there- it will be fun to see how LITTLE time it will take to become a 'DIS Veteran'! Not saying these boards are addictive or anything... I can stop posting anytime I want. Really I can!
