Hi all,

Assuming a Room Only discount will be released for my travel dates in September 2014 ( and I understand it is only an assumption), can I ask is the room only discount generally offered only on certain room types? I am weighing up a Savanna room Vs standard room at AKL and wondering what has been offered historically. I tried searching but only came up with the historical release dates, not the room types offered.

Many thanks :goodvibes

It all depends on what room types Disney needs to fill. Some resorts will have all room types available with a discount, while others will only have a few offered, with some resorts all together not even included. If a particular resort/room type is at or near capacity, it most likely will not be offered in a promo.

Ok thanks so if minimising cost is the strategy my guess is the safest option would be to book the standard room just in case the Savanna rooms don't get offered a discount. I am concerned however, that if the Savanna rooms do get offered the discount and the standard ones don't then we could have booked the better room type but didnt. Are you able to upgrade the ressie to the Savanna room without penalty prior to arrival if they do offer it at the discount?

If you will be taking the trip regardless of whether or not a discount is offered, then I would book as soon as you can whichever view you want/can afford at rack rate. If a discount is offered, your reservation can easily be modified to reflect that discount, provided the resort/room type you have booked is available under that promo. You can also change room types with a discount, again, pending availability. Having a reservation in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied, so booking one room type over another really doesn't matter. If you book a package, any changes made 45 days or more prior to arrival can be done at no charge; changes made 44 days or less from arrival will incur a $50 change fee if the total cost decreases (this fee is usually waived if the total cost increases). For room only, I think changes can be made 5 or more days prior to arrival without a charge (not sure if there is a charge less than 5 days from arrival). HTH :).
