Although we did a 3 day Disney cruise once before it was over 12 years ago so I'm sure a lot has changed. I will be going for an inside cabin due to our budget but have no idea what deck or position on the deck is better for someone prone to motion sickness. I will try to get a scopolamine patch as before but don't want to take any chances?
Also, I plan to book through Costco as they seem to have the higher "discount" with the cash card but can I still pay with Disney gift cards?
Thanks!

Agreed - lower deck mid is your best bet for sea-sickness. However, my daughter is prone to that as well and has never had an issue on a Disney Cruise. They are pretty liberal with the use of the ship's stabilizers and usually have a very smooth ride. You will want to ask your doctor about the patches and try them first. Several people have gotten ill from USING the patch, as they didn't read the dosage warnings and used them too long. Ask your doctor about them before you cruise.

WRT your question about gift cards, ask your Costco travel agent. We use them to pay all our onboard fees, which can be substantial depending on how you cruise and when you take into account your tips hit your onboard account. BTW, if you weren't aware, you can combine gift cards to a max of $1000 per card so you aren't that person with a 4 inch thick stack of $100 cards in line at Guest Services! :-)

You might consider the time of year and locations of cruises so that weather doesn't add to your concern. We did a WBTA that was relatively smooth. Also have done an Alaska cruise with no issues. However, some have experienced rough seas during both and during hurricane seasons elsewhere. On one EBPC we had to avoid cruising close to Cuba because of one. Takes a bit of research, but helps insure as happy tummy cruise. Happy sailing!!!

Think of a cruise ship like a seesaw, the part that moves the least is the center...more specifically lower decks tend to feel very little movement. My wife took Dramamine and was fine for the trip and she gets car sick.

Avoid forward if you're prone to seasickness on cruise ships. Cruise ship seasickness is rare, thiugh, as today's cruise ships are pretty stable & most people handle them fine. I'm prone to motion sickness in relation to spinning & swinging, but I can still ride roller coasters, & I'm mostly fine on the cruise ships, even when there's a lot of movement. The one time out of four cruises that I ever felt queasy was during our 4th cruise, when we sailed in the open Pacific ocean for a stretch, before entering Alaska's inside passage. But even that didn't make me ill & I needed no medication.

I always carry Dramamine in case something is needed, but I've never even opened it.

Thanks! How do you combine Disney gift cards? I didn't realize that was possible.

Thank you all for the replies. We ended up going through our travel agent after all as we may need a bit more help this cruise. We booked deck 2 oceanview in the middle. I have used the patch before and it worked great for me so I will probably do that again. The one thing I learned years ago was to leave it on and let it gradually lose potency rather than to abruptly take it off. Thanks again....
