We are thinking of checking out the DVC on our trip to Disneyland in February but am wondering about whether to buy at that time or go through resale. We are Canadian and I know that we can't get info from DVC in Canada - we have to be onsite to both get info and buy. Can we purchase resale from home or do we have to be in the US? I saw on one of the threads a reference to an 11 month window if you buy resale? What does this mean? Also, how long are the tours - we are thinking of booking a tour as soon as we arrive so that we have lots of time to consider but I'm not sure - maybe we should wait until the end of our trip? Too many things to think about - any help would be appreciated.

I would allow about 2 hours for a tour, that gives you time to ask questions, etc.

Yes, you can buy resale in Canada. The 11 month window is this:

You can book 11 months prior to your travels dates at your home resort (the resort where you own the points) and 7 months at the other DVC resorts. This applies whether you buy direct from Disney or through resale. However, the availability of resales at the newest resorts BLT and VGC will be somewhat limited because they are so new, so there is a smaller owner base from which to draw those resales, and many "new" owners just aren't interested in selling their newly purchased memberships. :)
