Newbie questions...

I am looking into DVC again...I am planning a trip in Sept and was going to do a tour then but in light of recent dvc news/rumors about current incentives I am thinking of buying in NOW! I am anxiously waiting on a call back from my DVC guide but I was hopping someone here could answer a couple of questions.

Are there incentives now that include developer points? I want to purchase now and be able to stay in a DVC using Developer points in Sept. Also, if available can developer pts be used at any DVC resort? I have no plans to be at WDW in 2009 (when Kidani Village opens) so I know I will be banking 2009 points. How long can points be banked?

We just bought in on Friday for the same reasons you are talking about. I didn't want to wait then watch the cost per points go up. So here goes to answer your questions.

Developer points- any purchase of 160 points or more get you equal develpoer points i.e.- your buy 200 points you get 200 developer points. You must use them with 12 months of purchase and the are on good at SSR or II.

Banking points- example -if your UY is April then you can bank your 2009 points (by November 30th, 2009) into 2010 and must use them by April 1st 2011 or lose them.

I believe the banking is correct. I am somewhat of a newbie myself.

Don't forget about the Disney Visa promotion for existing cardholders...if you buy at least 160 pts @ AKV you'll get a $500 giftcard.

If your reason for buying now is to use your points THIS Sept., then you may want to check with DVC to see what the availability is for Sept. I would hate for you to jump into DVC now only to find out that there is no availability at the resort or resorts you are interested in. I know that Sept is generally a slow month but I know that the last week (F&W) is pretty much booked up solid at this point.

Thanks, that's exactly what I did. My guide told me that the developer points are only good for SSR and she told me that Sept was wide open for my dates!
