I'm still confused about ADRs.

1) Do you need them if you're going during a slow time?

2) Do you have to pay for them in advance? Otherwise, what is to stop someone from making 3 reservations for the same night, just in case they're running late (or early) later?

:welcome:

We go at a slow time (leaving tomorrow!) and we always make them, because we have a few favorites that we'd hate to miss out on.

Except for a couple of places, like Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle (CRT), you won't have to pay anything when you make an ADR. Sure, some people make multiples, but there's a good chance that a CM will notice and cancel the extras.

Have fun planning!

Yes you need adrs if you want to eat at a TS restaurant. Even during the "slow" times (which disney is eliminating with free dining promos), so the restaurants get packed.

We went at the slowest (supposidly) time of year in 09 and everyday by 11am there were signs at the gates saying all TS places were booked, enjoy a meal at the CS places.

You can have a relaxing vacation even having adrs planned. All you have to do is know what type of food you like and pick that place to eat. If you don't do hoppers then know the park you will be in and you are done. Not that hard really.

Dinners like CRT or HDDR, require CC hold but all 1 credit places (if on the ddp) do not.
If you do a CC hold place and don't show up then you are charged anyway.

And what is happening if you are double booking is the CMs are now going thru and cancelling them....without notifying you.

Have a fun trip!!!

While you don't have to make ADRs- it's strongly advised...even during slow times...especially with all of the free dining out there. Only certain things require pre-payment...i.e. CRT and Hoop Dee Doo to name a couple. Some things- like Akershus require a credit card to book, but don't charge you until you dine. Things requiring a card or pre-payment also usually have something like a 2 day cancelation policy.
