I have just bought UV and Polarizing filters for my DSLR. I have been advised to keep the UV filter fitted to the lens permanently as a method of protecting the lens.
My question is, when using the polarizer, should I remove the UV or just keep it in place? Do the filters work independently of each other or will having both fitted affect the way they work?

Yes, take the UV off when using the CP. The more glass you force the light to go through, the lower the IQ will be. It might also cause vignetting. I personally do not like the UV for protection for that same reason. I am in the other camp that thinks a hood for protection is better and it does not degrade the image in any way.
