just wanted to add....
"us" & our adventures in dvc has given me a few grey hairs. we
were taken advantage of . not so much from our first guide
but everyone following him { 5 }. we have an assigned
guide but only in name only. we do not rely on a single
thing she said, though several managers gave her
high praise. her lack of actions did not match her words.
other members posting here really showed her true
colors.
there are some common rules that can be apply to all/any
relationship. for a beneficial relationship, both parties need
to feel trusted. the #1 way to break trust is to be dishonest
with that intent.
i also think because we purchased 3 contacts @ the beginning,
they felt we would not purchase new ones in the future.
while we are not rich, we are in the position to afford this
luxury, @ any level. their poor service redirected us into a
holding pattern.
so here we are, a major family investment and no instruction
manual to rely on.
, so what to do? i came here.
and while the experts are mostly timeshares pros taking
advantage of dvc opportunities , they have great insights that
can be apply to dvc. [ i am citing on the fact, that we used
their input toward our own dvc application, with great success].
in reality, i wish dvc would hired some of them to manage dvc.
i think all the observations are all correct- to a certain degree. more
than hurt feelings, i think the op has real concerns on how to
use her new investment for her family vacations. not having
a guide for instructions is stressful. but changing her guide may not
help because the others may be "protecting" each other interests/
perks instead of doing any peculiar member right.
{that what we ran into ( one on one interacting) & i read certain guides
bragging about their perks here. } another wish would to be to
hired some of the experts here to review dvc internal affairs.
if the guide did invest major times / & efforts toward this sale
where he took a major loss then i can understand his expressions .
i have read others giving feedback, where they actually taunted
the poor guide/s. * i am even guessing or hinting you have,
just maybe it was someone else & why he was so negative-
it's called a "reaction formation."
also i don't think every resale buyer is an expert in timeshares so
the op needing one that can help them. i am a little surprise they
would be assigned the same one . even on an emotional level,
this would be a conflict of interest.
my advice to the op, if your gut feeling is alarming as a non-
supporter ..i don't think changing guide will help unless
you are able to find one that do not know the current one.
until then, i would come here asking some of the "dis-
experts" for assistance. ( i do not even pretend to be in
the same league that some of them are ) hint, some already
responded to your concerns.
as an outsider, i can see that both "new" & "resales" are important
to dvc. there are other areas needing changes too, liked renters
& rci traders. instead of using a tier system, assigning certain
perks are well within the dvc capabilities. to me, a blt owner,
this was common sense that i made the "point" with our first guide,
{ getting the general location of our home resort } . i know
some of the responses here really made me worry, but since
finding the right person, we have been really
sorry i wrote so much "explanations". i did so as an effort to
express sincerity & i think your concerns are important.
