Newbie - Question on Reservation for Rent

Hi all, I've been a DVC member for over 10 years and just found (needed) this board. My question is, can anyone recommend a third party that can help with points that are headed for the Hold Bank? Since I am very new to the board, I, understandably can't use the Reservation for Rent on this site, yet.

MODs, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong location. I tried to keep this request generic and also read all of the READ ME FIRST threads in each of the sections. Thanks!

Thank you for the link. I went to Dave's website earlier this afternoon and left a detailed email since I did not know the protocol of asking, how to sell/trade a DVC vacation you can't use. So far, I haven't heard back so I decide to post this in addition.

It looks like my only option is to place the points used to book the vacation in a Hold Account. But reading a bunch of the other threads on this site, it sounds like that is basically throwing them away. So I'd rather have someone use the vacation then to see the points wasted.

Holding Account is not throwing points away -- it just means they can't be banked and they can only be used for reservations booked within 60 days of arrival. If you are flexible and can go at an off-peak time, holding points may not be the big problem you think.

I know for sure that David will not rent an already existing reservation. He will only rent out your points.

He's very good - hopefully he can help you out.

ANother option for the OP would be to just ask around. Friends, family and co-workers (or friends of friends) are often a source of rentals.

The rule is 50 non-Rent/Trade posts. Existing posts on the Rent/Trade board don't count.

Some posters (and I am not talking about shreked) have 100+ posts on the Rent/Trade board but have never posted to any other DIS forum.
