Hello! This is my first post after doing some lurking, and then finally registering!

After 5 months on the market, DH and I have just sold our house (yes!!!) and have decided to take our 15 month old DS to WDW for a week or so at the end of October as a celebration, and to spend some time with his family before we head off to Paris, France.

Because this is a last minute trip, we are trying to make some big decisions rather quickly!

Last time we went, we stayed at the Dolphin and loved it - loved being so close to Epcot, the room was great, and I loved being able to take the boat or walk to the park (and others, IIRC).

When he went with his family a long time ago, he stayed in Port Orleans (POR, right?), and loved it. We have a fish for a DS, and my DH was hoping we could stay someplace with good pools to take him swimming.

Any suggestions or advice? I fear that things like playgrounds and cool things like movies and tv watching would be lost on us (DS doesn't watch tv). Does anyone have any suggestions for me, other than the Dolphin/Swan and POR? Or should I just stick with what I know?

Also, should I plan to bring my carseat on this trip? What is the transportation situation like getting from the airport to the resort?

What kind of budget do you have? When my kids were that age, I loved the zero entry pools. Not sure how many of the pools at WDW have this, but I know AKL does.

Stay at a monorail resort, especially if you plan on going to the parks and using a stroller. This is SO much easier, quicker, and allows you to get back to your room quickly.

If you're looking for neat pools the moderates and up have very cool theming for adults - my own 4 year old thought the guitar pool and the fantasia pool at ASMu and ASMo (values) were very cool though - none of it mattered to my 18 month old - she would've swam in a bathtub and loved it.

PO has two parts - POFQ-Port Orleans French Quarter, which is themed to look like the French Quarter of New Orleans, and POR-Port Orleans Riverside (former Dixie Landings) which is themed to look like sprawling southern estates. Of the two I prefer POFQ for its compact size and the fact that it is first stop on the bus stops.

Both do have some neat pools and comfortable (in my opinion) rooms.

As far as transportation from the airport - if you're using DME (Disney's Magical Express) you won't need your carseat. Although personally, I have traveled with our carseat on both trips with our under 3 children just so they could have some place familiar to sit on the plane - niether of them gave me a problem - both nodded right off in the comfort of their carseat.;)

You can't go wrong either way you go.

I was just posting on another thread my love for the BC/BCV. I don't know your budget, but the BC is around $250+/night. Or you can rent DVC points and stay in a BCV studio with kitchenette for around $120/night.

Anyway, it's a good location, not far from the S/D actually. It's within walking distance of Epcot, boat to MGM/Boardwalk, and you could bus/drive to MK and DTD.

Also, its got a great pool, SAB, which I'm pretty sure has a kiddy pool and zero entry. It even has a sandy bottom and mini lazy river! Your DS will love it!

If you decide to do a monorail resort and stay close to the MK, I love the Poly. The theming is great and the pool is very cool. Great slide and zero entry pool. He'd like it also!

Have fun! We are taking DD when she is about that age, so be sure you post a trip report. :)

I agree with the above poster that a monorail resort witha nice pools would be cool. I would try the POLY. I stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. I am going to the BC with a 19 month old because we wanted to attend the Food and Wine Festival. After I booked I wondered what I was thinking - a toddler with a stroller - and tried to get in the POLY but it was booked. tghe BC has a great pool and location for Epcot and MGM, but with a toddler I would probably choose POLY. Kids love watching the fireworks from the beach.

I very much agree with this! If your budget allows stay at a monorail. It's so much easier to get back for those much needed naps (for all of you)!

Sorry to hi-jack but Vettechick where have you been? I haven't seen a post from you in months maybe years! What a cute little princess/chicklet.
