I just spoke to a Disney reservationist who told me that the Fantasy will have a lazy river? I can't quite figure out what this is exactly.

I'm going on the March 23 media/travel agent cruise and want to know what to expect.

Thanks.

Have not heard of a lazy river but they will have a few more water features onboard compared to the Dream.....

Here is a thread that talks about the new water features....it will have the Aquaduck, though.

Within that link is the disney parks blog link to the water features announcement.

Lazy rivers are usually a water feature that resembles a narrow river. It has a gentle current and you sit in an inner tube and float around.

Water parks use that term for a winding "river" path, filled with water of course. :-)

You float in an inneertube, following the curse of the riverbed, at a very relaxed pace, with an occasional waterfall or something to add interest.

It is a very nice, low key portion of your day of playing in the water.

When at a watermark, the lazy river is the highlight for my wife and I.

A "lazy river" is a long, winding pool, with a very gentle flow of water. You get into or on inner tubes and float at a relaxed pace.

There may be a waterfall or something here and there. It is a nice, slower paced thing -- great for mom and dad and even little ones to enjoy while the older kids are sliding!

When we go to watermarks, this is the favorite thing for DW and myself! :-)

Sorry for posting twice. My wifi was wigging out, and I did not realize that the first one actually posted.

Hope you enjoy the lazy river!

Thanks. I actually know what it is, I was just wondering if there's one on the Fantasy. It would seem like of . . . huge, for a cruise ship? I don't know. I just can't picture there being one, but the CM I spoke to today told me there was.

Quoted from Disney Cruise Line's website:

"AquaDuck is an exciting "water coaster" located on Deck 12, Aft aboard the Disney Fantasy. During the ride, Guests are propelled at high speeds through an acrylic tube on a thrilling journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—down a span of 4 decks—into a lazy river."

Can't imagine how different it'll be from the Dream, but I can't wait to find out!:cool1:

I haven't seen it for myself, but I bet the reference to the "lazy river" at the end of the AquaDuck is a fancy way to describe the spot you attempt to gracefully dismount the innertube at the end of the ride. Not even close to a true "lazy river", but it sounds nice.

:rotfl: Emphasis on the word "attempt" for me. I've never been able to exit an innertube gracefully!

For what it's worth, the description on DCL's website stating "into a lazy river" is the same for the Dream as well.
