Sorry, this question is probably very basic. I just bought in to BLT. I now have, say, 300 points. My use year starts in April (so I'll get another 300 in April 2010). We want to take a trip in May of next year (2010). So... I should bank my points now if I'm not going to take a trip until then? And when I make a reservation for May, I'll be using my banked points? Also, what is the cancellation policy, 30 days no problem? Thanks for any advice!

You have until November 30 to bank your 2009 points. If you want to use them for any stay 4/1/10 or after, you have to bank them.

When you make the reservation double check that the agent at MS has used the banked points first (they should but it is best to check). You must cancel 31 days or more out to keep points out of "holding" status. Good luck on your first reservation. Enjoy!

Also if you haven't finished your paperwork yet you may want to consider breaking your 300 point contract up into two contracts. Maybe a 160 and a 140. This way if you ever have to sell, it will be easier to unload a smaller contract then a large one or just 1 of the contracts if needed.

The other posts answered your questions though....cancell 31 days prior with no penelty, 30 days and closer point go into a holding account. For your 2010 reservation MS should use banked points first then current UY points in any are needed.

Thanks everyone! Great answers, exactly what I wanted to know. And, yes I did get two contracts when I joined, as I had read that here on this forum. Thanks again!:thanks:

Yes, if you bank your 2009 points, they will then be good during your 2010 UY. Since you will probably booking that May 2010 trip soon, you can have MS bank the points in the same phone call that you make the reservation. They do not have to be done separately.

You can also bank those points online through the member website.

Congratulations on your new purchase!
