We are going to be in Orlando in July.....we will be there a week, but aren't doing the parks the whole week....we will have 2 12 yr olds with us so am not planning on doing Disney, but think Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure would be something they would really like.....is each of those doable 1 day each? What's the best way to do tickets for those 2 parks? I see there is much information on this site, but my brain is on overload from all of it! What's the best place to get discounts for those 2 places? TIA

In July it will be hard to do both parks fully in one day each but you can hit the highlights. I would suggest if you want to fully do both parks to stay onsite one night. You will get 2 days of front of the line. That way you can do one park each day.

As for tickets they did have buy 2 get 3 days free( I think!) for about 100. That is a really good deal. They do offer 2 day passes for both parks for about the same price.

2 12 year olds will love IOA/US

So many people on this board suggest staying on site. If you are like us, and staying somewhere else for the entire stay, this is really not a good option. You could purchase FOTL separately, or buy 2 get 3 free(which is what we did) so you can hit one park each day and then go back to your your favorites on the third day. Have fun.

thanks for the suggestions.....we already have our stay paid for through our timeshare, so paying to stay somewhere else really is not an option, but thank you very much for the suggestion. We are only like 4 miles from Disney, so we are pretty close.

What is FOTL?

Where do I find the buy 2 get 3 free? Can you do that once you get there?

You cannot get that deal at the parks. You have to buy it online at the Universal site.

FOTL is front of the line. At the parks they have a free Express pass which works like fast pass at Disney. You can also buy FOTL which allows you to go in the Express line once on every ride. If you stay onsite you get to ride as many times as you want using the Express line.

how much does it cost to add FOTL to a ticket? :)

Depends on the day, where Universal calculate expected guests. Extra front of the ride tickets ranges from $15 - $35 and can be purchased at the front gate. Remember, that each ticket will allow you ONE Universal Express ticket per ride. Numbers on sale are limited per day as well.

Arrive early, as the park tends to open up to an hour before stated opening time. Use your Universal Express passes wisely and you will get to see most of the attractions anyway.

If you get the 2 day 3rd day free, is that for 1 or 2 parks? I am just trying to figure out the best tickets to get. I believe that this trip we will only do 1 park over 2 days......we will be back there either next year or the year after most likely and will do another park then. What are your suggestions for the best tickets to get, with FOTL?????
