Newbie Q about codes and reservations

Hi. I have a question about using codes or APs to get discounts.

If I book a room at rack rate and then don't find a code or AP discount I can live with, is there a cancellation fee if I cancel the whole reservation? If so, how much would it be and is there a drop dead date by which I cancel without any such penalty?

Depends on what you're booking, so be sure to ask this question carefully when your reservation is made.

Room-only reservations generally have a 5 day cancellation policy. If you book any type of 'package' ---- and this could be simply the room plus tickets to the sports complex --- I believe it's a 45 day cancellation. We've never, ever booked any type of package, so I don't pay too much attention to the terms. I'm sure someone else will answer your question. Just wanted you to be aware that there's different terms.

Room only ressie can be cancelled up to 5 days prior withut penalty. Packages can be cancelled upto 45 days prior.

You will know what the CM is booking for you by the deposit required. a $200 deposit is a package, The equivenant of a 1 night rate is room only.

Be careful when you call, many CM's try to book a package, be polite, but insistent on a Room Only ressie if that's what you want. Buy Park hoppers with a seperate call or from ticketmania, etc.

this is especially true if you happen to get a Travel Company operator on the phone! Be very kind but clear that you want room only! Sometimes if the person I've got is really persistant on it I just say that I'm going to think about it some more and call back for a different, less pushy CM lol
