Just finishing buying in at OWK, sending my check in for closing today. After I receive my info from Disney and can book a reservation I am going to try to get a 2 bedroom in August at OKW. There will be 7 of us. 5 adults and 2 children(2 and 4). Question is what is a good building to try and get into with the children? Thanks!!

1st off, :welcome:

Congrats, you bought into not only my home resort but my favorite resort. As far as choice of bldngs., it really depends on what you want. If you want to be close to the main pool with the castle slide, the restaurant, arcade etc. then you would want to request HH (Hospitality House, it's a booking Catergory). If you still want to be somewhat close to HH but not in HH, one of my favorite bldngs is #15, great view of the golf course, fountains etc. Still close enough to walk to HH, maybe a little harder w/ really young children. If you want straight beautiful view with access to everything mainly by bus or car, our favorite bldngs are # 45 & #46, beautiful serene waterway/canal view. I also at times request Bldng. #55 which is right near a quiet pool and the BBQ grill, we like to have happy hour and grill by the quiet pool while the kids swim around till dinner.

August is really hot and the children will really benefit from coming home between 12 & 4pm to avoid the big heat. My son ,when he was little would take a dip in the pool, have lunch and then nap till we went back out around 4pm!

Hope this helps, have fun. We always go in Jun and Aug!

Thanks for the reply. One question what do you mean by a booking catergory? Extra points to get it?

No the points are the same, but a few years ago they made those certain buildings 11-14 & 23-26, HH a booking category that you must request at the time you book, if you really want to get it!

No - there is no additional point cost for a HH (near Hospitality House) reservation. The buildings involved are 11-14 and 23-26.

Enjoy! :)

Here is a map to help you see where the bldgs discussed are.

This map will show you where the pools and main areas are. I don't worry so much about being near HH, since you can take a bus from anywhere in the resort to get there pretty quickly. Our favorite 'quiet' areas are building 15, buildings 45 and 46, and building 56.

Also, all pool areas have playground areas with them that will be less crowded than the sandcastle area at the main pool.

Last year our family made our first trip to WDW in year, and we stay at OKW. We had 4 adults and 3 kids, so similar to your group. We stayed in a 2BR at OKW. We enjoyed being near any pool. We actually preferred to be near a pool away from the HH as it wasn't as crowded. We were there 10 days, so we wanted to down time. We spent one day at the pool at the HH, but most of our pool visits were short ones near the condo.

We're hoping to return in January ourselves, and hope to clear ROFR in a week or two-- we plan to return to OKW and rent another 2 BR. I see that others prefer being near the HH. We're new to the whole experience, but we enjoyed being away from the HH. Just my two cents worth.

Good luck!

I actually agree with you. We also prefer to be away from HH. Our favorite areas are South Point (specifically buildings 45, 46, and 55) and Miller's Road.
