Newbie needs help & support!

Welcome to the DIS! If you go in search of another forum on DIS, be wary of the Community Boards. While there are some nice people there, they tend to be grouped into cliques and can sometimes be pretty mean.

I am also in the above 30 crowd. And I can't blame my kids for getting me hooked since I don't have any. I'm just a kid at heart who loves Disney.

I'm also usually on after 6-7 pm EST. My name is the same there as here. Also, I have the characters in my signature below.

Welcome aboard I am also in my mid-30's and started playing over a year ago when planning a WDW trip. My kids (8 y/o twins) started playing after I did, and they don't play much anymore, so I can't blame them either

My family has the disney bug too! We were rebitten by the bug about 2 years ago when my DS (now seven) began playinf=g Kingdom hearts. We planned our first family disney vacation last year and since we can't wait to get back. We are going again at the end of the summer and we are all excited. VMK is such a bonus for the Disney lover!

I have only being playing a few months myself but with lots of help from my DisFriends I have learnt a lot.

You are already wayyy ahead of me, as you can play pirates. If you happen to see me in pirates it is my DH,
he loves Pirates, but he plays nice so ask him for help too, if you need it.

Poohluv- Thanks! I am ok at pirates! Just made it to level 2. Now that I am getting better at it... it has become more fun. It is not fun when you lose!

Oh and just a heads up on VMK I am FancyPirateGirl and on here I am Team Disney! I guess it would have made more sense to keep it the same! oh well!

Just in case you didn't know ... there are other games to play that you can win virtual items. (outside of VMK hours)

If you win Sparrow's outfit in this game you will have something rare to trade.
You may have to put in 1,000+ codes to get it though

BTW...It took me forever to figure out what AFK was! I had to break down and ask last night!

There are a few other little short cuts that work in VMK as well. ltns is long time no see. gmta is great minds think alike. afaik is as far as I know. However, most of the time when I use these I get questioned by friends because they have no idea what I'm talking about.

Hopefully we can meet up tonight and I can get you that crown and a few more goodies.

I don't think this thread is too old to respond to, so... yeah, I'm in that over 30 age group as well... My DD started playing in '05 and while watching her, I decided to make my own character. Now I'm the bread winner. You can find me most of the time in the fireworks lobby.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I would like to meet up with you sometime Maybe we can play some pirates to get you up to level 3.

My youngest son and your son are the same age and I have been looking for some kids his own age to play VMK with. Like you I have to help him out with some typing but he is getting much better as time goes on. They do catch on fast.

welcome to vmk team disney. At the top of the thread page, is the VMK players guide. It has some great info in it, as well as all the quests you can do. Here is another piece of advice. When you go to WDW ask them about the mickey rewards card, as sometimes people don't get it when they turn their quests in. you need to do three or more to get it, and all the quests have spoilers in the players guide. And don't foget about the vmk pins. They are $14 for one set, but people do trade some good stuff for them. If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.

Yes, the arcade games give out codes, but the waterworks game wasn't last I checked. The games in the Tomorrowland arcade also give codes .. check the players guide for help with those.

As for the Sparrow Suit, it is all a matter of chance ... some have put in over 1,000 codes others maybe only four. You could get it the very first time Good Luck
