We always stay onsite usually POR, CBR, WL.
We have an older pop up (1989). It is clean and well kept that's why we got it 4 yrs ago but older. It is in excellent condition not only for it's age but for popups in general.
I was thinking about upgrading our tickets to AP's and planning a camping trip for maybe late winter/spring.

My husband is a camping snob since his parent's had 5th wheels or driving ones while he grew up. I think he is not pleased with our older camper since his family constantly traded up. For those that have camped there will our old pop up fit in or are there basically all newer models around the grounds?

The campsite seems spread out and we have a child that currently needs a medical stroller. Are the grounds accessible for strollers or wheelchairs? Will it be easy to get around walking from here to there and is the walking distances acceptable for someone that has walking issues?

What times of years are the best to camp in Fla.? We do not have A/c in the pop up so we don't want it to be too hot or too cold. I'm not worried about the days but more the nights while sleeping.

How are the pools? Is there a quiet pool ? That would be best for our son.

How are the food options?

If camping could work for us I would love to be able to surprise my family with an extra trip.

Thanks for any info.

I dont think you have a problem, we have an older 5th wheel and park beside high dollar rigs and the people talk to us just like anybody else, as a matter of fact, I was admiring a very expensive ($ 500,000+, a nascar driver) and the owner came out and started talking to us and asked the wife to borrow a cigarette as he was out and the store was closed. People for the most part are very friendly.
The pool will be kind of crowded and the quiet pool is by the cabins.

The best time to camp is probably early spring and fall without air, they now have portable A/C's. We now enjoy Dec the most, and also Halloween..

The stores have some food, Quick service would prpbably be better to take a boat to WL. There is always Trails End, we have eat there many times..

As far as the food options go, you have Trails End and the café by the pool. Both have limited, but decent food. There is also a take out window that has pizza and chicken that has received "edible" reviews.

If you don't want to do any cooking while you camp and Trial's End doesn't hold a lot of appeal, another option is to hop on one of the boats to either the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary resort that have tons of food options!

I love to go to Whispering Canyon for breakfast - make sure you ask for ketchup! ;)

Ha ha, I second that!

I went tent camping in June at FW and was fine. It was hot - but so is the rest of Florida this time of year. After a couple of days of getting used to being without A/C all of the time, I really enjoyed it. But, IMHO, the best times in Florida are fall and spring.

The smaller pool by the cabins is much quieter than the Meadow pool. Meadow pool can be very busy!

There are all sorts of campers at Fort Wilderness. The roads and sidewalks are smooth, and I'm sure you'd have no problem with a medical stroller.

I did the Quick Service Dining Plan as part of an Annual Pass deal. Even though I brought food with me, I would have had more than enough with the DP.

Have a good time!

and don't lose your fork!!!!!!!! If you do ask for another!!!;)

IMO, it doesn't matter what your camping gear is.
Friendly people are friendly and snobby people are snobby.
The size of their MH, camper or tent has nothing to do with it.
We have met the nicest people at the Fort.
Remember, we all share our love of The Mouse.
