I used to just find a hotel and make a reservation, and now I am finding out there are better ways to do it, LOL!! So please indulge my last couple of questions before I finally book my dates with HOJO......
I have gleaned from reading tons of posts that there is a code to use to get an entertainment rate at HOJO. You have to purchase an entertainment book to get the deal, and present the card at the time of check in.....
What I need to know is....do I have to actually own an entertainment book NOW to use the code? Since my resies will be for next year, I will need THAT book, yes? I will just need to make sure to buy my 2009 book and have my card before check in..... Do I have this right, or am I a dork? Thanks for humoring me.....

You have it right. You don't need the actual book to book your stay.

I just did it--booked our trip for March-- it's quick, it's painless ;-) Yay. I think the 2009 ET books come out in December or something? It is so nice to have that part of planning over and to feel 100% about it.

You have it right, just a quick note. The Ent Books go on sale after the first of the year, it may be best for you to wait and get one after the beginning of 2009. Also, if you do My Points they always offer points for buying the book. I got 750 for buying my book. :) And it was on sale and had free shipping! LOL

I thought 2009 ent books are available in Oct or Nov because 08 expires in Nov. I have ressies in Dec. Do I need 2008 or 2009's book?

yea they go on sale around october or november because its around then the schools start to sell them here! But last year when we went i got a big book for $10 shipping inc. and they also sent me 2 (i think it was a shipping error).... but i ordered it around aug. so they were just clearing them out! I would wait till the very latest i could to buy one for somewhere i was taking a trip to because then you get it the cheapst possible!

These books are full of coupons for shopping (stores and online), dining (from fast food to fancy places), coffee shops, rental cars, even airline (American, I believe), shuttles, and hotels.

People around here use them quite a bit for the HoJo in Anaheim, because that particular HoJo offers an incredible deal on certain dates out of the year. The normal hotel discount is a percentage off of rack rate, and if you call the 800# for HoJo that's what you'll be offered, and you have to have the book in your hand.

But if you call the Anaheim hotel directly and talk to their in-house reservations people, depending on your dates, you can get a rate as low as $59, and that is the Entertainment Book rate. Since HoJo in Anaheim is a hotel vs the motels that surround Disneyland, it's nice. And they have nice grounds blah blah blah, so many of us love the Entertainment Book for the value it brings us with that hotel.

You buy whatever book is more convenient for you, or, if there's nothing for your area in the books, just buy the cheapest. Take the card from that book, show it to the hotel staff when you check in (after booking, online or on the phone with the hotel, with the EB rate). :)

I get the one for my area, because there's a ton of good stuff in it. I paid $15 for mine during a special, and shipping was free, and it has $20 worth of coupons for my local grocery store. Yes those coupons are over the year (4 $5 off $50 purchase, one coupon for each quarter of the year) but since I already shop there I'd love the book even without the HoJo bonus.

Hope that helps! Overhelps, possibly...:goodvibes

adding...but if the one for my area was useless, or there wasn't one, I'd just look through their list of books and get the least expensive one, b/c they all work for the Hojo discount, if that's why you're buying the book. :)
