Hi all :yay:

I went to WDW Orlando about 12 years ago, but won £500 of holiday vouchers last week :thumbsup2 and would like to take my 6 year old son to Disney Paris this year.

I've priced up via the Disney website and can get the Sequoia Lodge for 3 nights for £495 including Eurostar. Does that sound reasonable? It's to go at the beginning of September.

I want to book it asap before the prices change lol!

What's next? Any tips? My son is a huge Star Wars and Indiana Jones fan, do they have shows / rides with these in (I know they do in WDW).

Is Sequoia a good choice? I was looking at Santa Fe but it came back with 40% off Sequoia which swayed me!

I've never been to Paris, let alone Disney there. What would you recommend for a 6 year old? What is Cafe Mickey?

I've ordered the Brits guide to Disneyland Paris but would like to hear real stories!

Thank you

Jo

How brill - holiday vouchers to spend all on a trip to DLRP! With the 40% off deal, I'd go for the Sequoia Lodge, even though my DD and I are Santa Fe fans (but I want to work my way round all the onsite hotels eventually :) ).

Just a thought though - have you looked at pricing up the Eurostar separately? That might save you more money. Or do your holiday vouchers not cover that?

There are rides around Indie and Star Wars, but my DD isn't remotely interested in them, so I can't advise you there.

Your DS (and you) will love Cafe Mickey - its a character meal, you can have lunch or dinner there. You might also want to consider adding a half board meal plan to your Disney booking - this will save you so much money on your meals while you are at DLRP.

I first took my DD to DLRP when she was nearly 6, she loved meeting the characters then, and still does. We love the Parade, all the shows in both parks, most rides in Fantasyland, and lots of stuff in the Studios.

Enjoy your trip planning :goodvibes

Wow, thanks Elaine :)

The holiday vouchers were for a local travel agent and I could spend them on whatever I wanted, but I thought I'd like to do Disney (I'm usually a Med girl!)

I can't look at the Eurostar prices as they only go up to the end of August at the mo and we want to go 2 days later!!

Is half board just at the Sequoia or can you eat elsewhere? I think Cafe Mickey would be a hit with my DS!

I still can't decide on the hotel, they all seem so nice. I was considering staying off site, but as I'm not really paying for it as such, I thought we'd stay in a Disney hotel as we may never get the chance again!!

It'll only be DS and I - is it "do-able" for single parents? I'm not a big roller coaster fan so won't miss out by not going on the biggies! DS loves Chessington log flume and thunder mountain, so he'll be OK on Disney ones, although Space Mountain and Aerosmith may be beyond him lol!

Thanks!

Hello :)

Lucky you getting £500 holiday vouchers!!
Not got any tips yet as I am going for the first time Monday!!!!!

Half board is for more places than just the sequoia, but if you want cafè Mickey included you have to get the half board premium.

I'm sure someone else can explain it better for you though :)

Ciao

I always do DLRP with just my DD - I love it love it love it :goodvibes . Theres only the 2 of us to consider, and in DLRP we have many of the same favourites anyway, so it really works well for us. We're not coaster nuts either, and we can easily fill our days at DLRP.

The half board plans are useable at lots of venues all over the DLRP resort - here is a very useful link posted earlier here by another member -

You might be able to get Eurostar prices on the phone for your dates?

Alternatively, you can use either half board standard or half board plus vouchers at Cafe Mickey at face value, and then just pay any difference in price between the cost of the meal and the face value of the vouchers.

Wow. What a lovely surprise for your DS. Star tours is a simulator based on Star Wars - my 4 year old loved it. The Indiana Jones ride would not be suitable for your DS as it has a height requirement - think it's 140cm. Buzz would probably go down well, together with Peter Pan, Crush (possibly) and Big Thunder Mountain. Pirates of the Caribbean is dark but mine really loved it.

I would get hb vouchers - they are a really good buy. Have you considered the Wild West Show? I would definitely go with a six year old boy - trouble is I have 3 girls...

You've come to the right place - all of the people on here love DLRP! You'll have a ball!
