Newbie help - Wilderness Resort Info

New to the site after being referred here by the folks at biddingfortravel.com.

I have a race on the Disney properties on the weekend of May 22 - 23 which starts and finishes in the Wilderness theme park area. I am wondering if there is a site that allows you to either bid for hotels or resorts on the Disney property or if there is a waiting list for hotels in case the rooms open up.

If there isn't what are some low cost options for hotels on the Disney property that will allow me to get to the race start with little to no driving (race starts at like 6:30 am - have to be set up around 5:30....).

Hi, from a fellow trigeek! I'll also be there for the race! (please check on the trip reports forum...I wrote up the bike course review...drove it last week to preview it, and there's a little info about the run/transition...the reports are all titled "Quick trip/long report")

Is it all full at WL and FW? No surprise, I suppose, with over 2000 athletes heading that way. I am not familiar with any of the bidding companies that might do WDW resorts. However, if you follow some of these threads, you can find ways to maybe save on WDW rooms, either with the Disney Visa, or with an annual pass. Another thing to consider is that the Port Orleans Riverside resort is actually pretty close to Fort Wilderness and you could probably bike over or jog over to the race start area. Plus, I think there are going to be shuttles if you stay at other WDW properties.
