Newbie from Scotland - first trip!

Hi everyone

I've been lurking on here for about a week now and really wanted to join as you all seem so friendly!

I'm from just outside Edinburgh, and have booked my first trip to WDW in July with my best friend. We cannot wait! We're staying at the CBR from 2nd-12th July, flying from Manchester to Sanford.

Looking forward to getting to know you all on here and sharing our planning!!

It looks like you can't be too far from where we are - also not too far from Edinburgh - just a mission to get there!

Just ask as many questions as you need to. No question is silly - that's the whole point of the boards.

2Tiggies - The planning has been going well. We have bought the Orlando Flexticket as we are planning to visit Seaworld, Universal and IOA (maybe Busch Gardens too), and we are doing the swim at Discovery Cove, so we have that organised. We've booked 2 evening shows (but still not sure if we will actually go to them once we get there - we may be too tired! lol)

We have a rough itinerary just now, but we're going to make some changes to that, so will post that here once we've updated it to see what everyone thinks!

Wow! Sounds like you have it all under control! Must admit, I usually start that way, then at the last possible moment I start posting questions all over here and change everything!

We're in South Lanarkshire - about 20 min from Midlothian. Regular shoppers at Almondvale !!!

No doubt that's what will happen with me! lol I am a very organised person, but since I've never been before - and this is my first holiday on my own too! I will probably have lots of questions that randomly pop up! lol

Oh I have been to Almondvale once and loved it! So much bigger than the shopping centres out here lol I'm hoping to do quite a bit of shopping in Florida too! We're hoping to spend one day (probably the 4th July) at the Florida Mall. Have you been there before? Also, who have you flown with previously? We are flying with Thomson, premium class. I've heard quite a few good things about them, so feeling pretty positive about that!

To the US I have flown with Virgin over the last decade. Done some of the other main airlines but to other continents, so can't compare the flight experience on this route.

I have heard really positive things about Thomson Premium. In fact, our accountant raved about them from her last Florida trip and one of the partners of the firm uses them frequently so they must be good.

That's great to hear! We were considering Virgin, but it was just too expensive for us to upgrade with them, which is why we went with Thomson, so that's great news! I really am looking forward to it!

We will be there at the same time as you this year July 2-16 but staying offsite in a villa.

Our flights are from Newcastle with Thomson premium economy. We did Virgin PE in 2008 and thought it was great, but just too expensive now and we have also heard great things about Thomson PE.

Ask loads of questions, there is nothing too trivial on here and there are some people on these boards that have been to Disney loads of times and know practically everything from how to get the best flight prices to where to find hidden mickeys.

Have you been at that time of year before to WDW? I have heard that it is extremely hot at that time of year? Not sure how we'll cope with the heat being from Scotland! lol

I am a bit nervous about this trip as it is the first trip I have organised by myself and have never been without my family before. So I've always had other people dealing with the major aspects of the holiday! Just little things worry me, like finding my way around the airports and catching the airport transfers etc. Silly things really!
