Newbie family ventures to WDW....

Wow! Sorry I haven't been back to your TR for a while but I am now fully updated! Can you believe our trips are so close!??! I haven't been doing a very good job of updated my TR lately because I have just been so crazy busy with the end of the school year! I am getting so nervous for all my students! Their exam in on Wednesday! Ahhh! Anywho, you guys are all in order it seems. I wanted to ask you a quick question... what are you packing for yourself to wear??? I have bought a pair of shorts and a pair of light capris that I am saving for vacay, plus I have a couple tank tops... but I was thinking of going with tshirts mostly-- does that sound like a bad idea for July? lol. I noticed you mentioned you guys bought DisneyStore tees and I just have a couple of cute tees that I love and wanted to bring- not all disney- but nonetheless. Plus I wasn't sure if it was even worth bringing a pair of pants and like a hoodie or something? What are you planning to do for yourself and your DH? Just curious!

Hi Mel! Our trip doesn't really seem close to me yet (although it really is I guess!) because I've got a work conference between now and then that is taking my focus away. But when I get back from that, Disney will be all I can think about!

I'll be packing almost all lightweight t-shirts and shorts. We're going to Cali Grill the first night, so we'll need nicer clothes for that evening. I and the kids may fly in pants/jeans (I always find airplanes chilly), but that'll be all the pants we take. And I doubt we'll pack hoodies.... I'll check the weather forecast online before we go to get a sense if there'll be any cooler weather in sight during our trip. DH always packs for himself (with some advice from me, lol) so he'll take whatever suits him! I will get the disposable rain ponchos to take with us to deal with the rain showers. And my family isn't into hats; I wonder if I can convince them otherwise!

And hi Jupers -- thanks for dropping in and reading!

Hi! I found your Pre TR this morning and have enjoyed reading about your plans. I did notice that you don't have Haunted Mansion listed for MK. This is one of my faves and one I like to do every time I go.

Thanks for dropping by! Nice to meet you!

Unfortunately, the Haunted Mansion will be closed for reno this summer. :sad1: It's too bad, because that is one of the rides I remember from my childhood and I would like to experience it again, and share it with my kids. But it'll just have to wait for a 2nd trip! And we'll just have to make lots of other excellent memories to sustain us!

You def are right about that! My DBF had the time of our lives and there is SO much we missed. Its all about your interest and what is open and things like that. I am most excited for Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest and the new Nemo ride- which we didn't hit at all our firs trip.

PS- Thanks for the tips about packing, I think I will just tell my DBF to do his stuff and then check it (he always forgets things) after and I guess I will stick to bringing some tshirts too. I am not in tank top shape so I was hoping to hear that you would be packing tshirts for you and your family!

Hello! It has been awhile since I've been here and I've fallen down to the bottom of page 2! Nearly to page 3!

Here's my list for MGM -- comments? Anything I should add? Anything I should drop? (I'm getting my list from the UG and Birnbaum's.)

In no particular order:

Star Tours
Muppet Vision 3-D (we got a pin for this one!)
Beauty and the Beast
RnR Coaster
ToT
Fantasmic

We've all been bravely wearing our crocs (actually, payless airwalks) around. We've pronounced them "very comfortable" if not particularly attractive. :goodvibes No blisters or hotspots. ('Course we haven't walked 13 miles yet in blistering hot sun...!)

Only 32 days to go! I can hardly believe it! I'd better make more progress on my shopping/packing list soon. I have a work conference trip between now and WDW and that is distracting me (which probably is a good thing).

later!

Time is passing! We're at the one month mark today!

My Epcot must-see list:

Soarin'
Mission:SPACE
TestTrack
Turtle Talk with Crush
Honey I Shrunk the Audience
Illuminations

Should I add anything? (Anybody out there?? lol!) We plan to spend quite a bit of time in the World Showcase, and we'll be in Epcot 1 1/2 days, both starting a rope drop (if I can get everybody out of the room!). How about "Ellen's Energy Adventure?"

Thanks!

Hey Kim,

Just letting you know I'm still here. You're must see list looks like mine so I'll let you know what we thought. Although DD is a lot younger than yours I'm sure DH will go on all those rides.
