newbie considering purchase

I am just looking....I have no idea how many points are needed to spend a week at WDW. We would like to stay at BayView Contemp, Animal Kingdom, or OKW for 10 days......can anyone give me some insight? Thank you

It also depends on how many people will be staying in the room (thus whether you would need a studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, or grand villa). It also depends on what time of year you would be staying. Then someone could give you a better idea of how many points you would need.

Yep...need to dtermine time of year, size or room before you can really get into the points. For example, there's a big difference between a standard room at Animal Kingdon and Savannah view. Also a HUGE difference between a studio and a 2 BR. regardless of points, I'd book the vacation, then do the DVC tour. If you end up buying, they'll incorporate what you spent on the current trip with your DVC purchase.

Off the top of my head, for 10 days and 1BR place, I'm thinking between 350-400 points.

Thank you will do DVC tour in 2 weeks....always go with grandchillldren in tow...sometimes daughters as well. Usually stay at shades of green.

BLT is more expensive than OKW, a 1BR costs more than a studio, weekends cost more than weeknights, different times of year have different costs.

Keep looking and reading, there is more to the DVC than meets the eye. Be prepared for your sales meeting with Disney and remember that Disney is a business and you are buying a deeded piece of real estate.

There is also a healthy resale market where you can get a really nice contract and save BIG BUCKS !!

Maybe a long time ago, but haven't heard of that happening recently. We bought 4 years ago and this was not an option for our purchase. I wish it was - it would have paid for a 1/3 of our DVC purchase.

We bought back in October and we paid the full amount for our 100 points. No discounts or anything. So I'm not sure what you mean either. (not vicki but the person you quoted)
