Newbie booking question - when to book popular times?

Just got our points at BWV and trying to figure out when to book our first trip- with DD's school, we're thinking about Spring Break '07, which is, unfortunatley Easter week next year. So, I understand you can book 11 months before your checkout date. If you plan on checking out , for example, April 6th, then you could book on May 6th 2006, correct? But if you plan on checking out April 3rd, you could book on May 3rd? So do the early part of the popular weeks get sold out early? Just getting concerned as I read about all of the peak times getting sold out so soon!

You can book 11 months out from your day of departure, but the problem with the popular times of the year is if you wait until 11 months from the last day of your vacation, you may find that the previous 6 days are all booked up. This is because you can(even if Disney discourages it) call up and book each day individually as you go along, so...

If your vacation is from April 3, 2007 to April 10, 2007, rather than waiting until May 10, 2006 to call and make the ressie for the entire 7 days, you call beginning on May 3, 2006 and book that one day, then call May 4th and so on. Disney will link the ressies together.

Is it right to do this ?? I don't think there is anything wrong with it since you are not doing anything illegal, and Disney is partly responsible for the problem since they have expanded DVC so much and added so many new members. School vacations are a very popular time of year and there is no way DVC can accommodate everyone who wants to visit DVC during those weeks. Also it would not be fair to those members wanting to visit for 7 days from 4/3 - 4/10 since members who only want to visit for 6 days from 4/3 - 4/9 would call on 4/9 and book up all of the rooms.

If I were you and looking to book BWV for anytime in April, I would be very hesitant about waiting until 5/10/06 to book 4/3/07 - 4/10/07.

Actually if your first night is April 3, 2007, you can call on May 4, 2006 to book April 3.

Even for one of the weeks surrounding Easter, it is not necessary to book each day separately (aka booking day by day) at the BWV, unless you want a standard view or a guaranteed Boardwalk view. One call for your entire week is enough.

AFAIK, there are no times of the year at the BWVthat the PV-Pool/Garden rooms are all gone by the first month of the booking period. That is not true for standard view or guaranteed Boardwalk view rooms, though. Those views should be booked day by day - especially if you want one of the weeks surrounding Easter.

Best wishes -

I'm not a gambler so I booked mid Dec at VWL day by day and first week of Oct at BCV day by day. After giving all the info on call #1, subsequent calls were only a couple of minutes and it's a toll free number. If you have to get certain dates I would do that then risk being disapointed.

I agree with you. Mid Dec I though the crowds where the lowest I have seen there. Loved it.
