Newbie asking about the Poly...

If you can afford it & plan to spend time awake in your room then it's probably worth it! When we stayed at the Poly we went with a standard view, as we got up & out early and came back late. If our kids were young or if we'd planned a more leisurely vacation, then we would have loved to see the castle each AM & to have a view of the MK fireworks at night!

That might be the most expensive regular size room in all of disney world. I would say it's not worth it, save some cash to put towards other things.

I am sorry I have to agree with the others. If you can financially swing it with no doubt then keep it. But if that money could be spent buying some moments from your trip switch your ressie to a standard view. Ask for FIJI and you can look at the lake, very tranquil.

Several years back we got bumped up from Garden Wing to Magic Kingdom view at Contemporary. Yes it was wonderful to see the castle change colors and it is now a great memory BUT not sure I would splurge on that. Especially when we aren't in the room, but to get ready and go to bed...

For basically the same $, you might want to consider the Poly Garden View Club Level room. Although your room view in the Hawaii Building will look towards the Quiet Pool (which is actually a very nice view, we've done it twice), you get a great view of the castle from the lounge. Plus you get all of the lounge food/drinks included in your room cost.:)

I agree. We stayed GVCL and really enjoyed it. My 3 kids were constantly hungry/thirsty, so having the lounge available was so convenient. My husband and I would sit on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine and talk, didn't miss not having the castle view-probably because we were so tired! For the cost, you get a lot more perks with CL.

Oh. If this is what you choose to do, be aware that the second floor does not have a balcony. Request 3rd floor or 1st for a patio.

We stayed in a MK view room (hawaii bldg). I would say that i would not spend that money again. Sure you can see the castle in the distance, and some fireworks, but thats about it. If you really want to see the park from your room, you need a Contemp tower view. And i am not sure that was worth it either.

We stayed at the Poly last year in club level and were put in a first floor MK view even though we payed for a garden view and it was very nice. Even though we had a view of the fireworks at night we still went up to the lounge and watched them because the view was better but we easily could have from the room and enjoyed it. The main benefit for us that the beach was literally 20 ft outside the room which was awesome for relaxing in the morning and in the afternoon while taking a break from the parks... On the other hand it is a lot more money that could be spent elsewhere maybe on one of the Disney "special experiences". In my opinion if you can afford it go for it. I believe we stayed in Hawaii last time btw. Hope this helps.

We had MK view in CL in Hawaii. IT was nice to do once when the kids were little. Watching fireworks in your Pjs and not fighting crowds was awesome! However, now that the kids are older they prefer to be in the parks later. It was nice to do it once. We are booked for CL at the Poly in July, but booked just garden view CL. Not worth the extra money again. Besides, you might get a free upgrade to the MK view. That happened last time to friends of mine-booked garden but got MK view! :yay:
