I’m looking at booking my first Disney Cruise in May 2021. I’ve only been on a short, Carnival Cruise out of Mobile, AL as part of a cheap girls trip. It would be my DH, DD9, DS8, and DS3 (ages at time of travel!) We would like to do the 4night Dream out of PC. I believe the sail date is May 24, 2021.

We are leaning towards a family verandah room and I would prefer midship bc I’m not sure how my family will do with sea-sickness. In reading articles, I keep seeing comments about specific “categories” but on my phone when doing mock bookings on other cruises, I can never see a category until I have gone further along in the booking process?? I guess I’m mostly looking for advice on which room/level we would want to be on? I know I don’t want the top most decks due to noise and I’m assuming the ones directly above dining, etc wouldn’t be the best pick either so what do people recommend, although I’m sure it’s all subjective!?!

I would describe us as middle of the road people. I don’t need concierge level suites but I also don’t want the storage room! Lol just a good basic room, midship.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. I’m also looking into some travel agents to simplify the process! Lol Thank you!

Here is a link to the deck plan for the Dream. You are looking for a category 4 room. Not all rooms in that category sleep 5 some will only sleep 4. I think once you enter your travel party only 5 person rooms will show up but I’m not 100% positive. 4B or 4C should be good for you. I highly recommend a travel agent for your first cruise. I used a dreams agent when I did my first this past May mainly for the onboard credit, but I was really glad to be able to bounce questions off of her.

Perfect! Thank you!

PP is correct that when you put in 5 people, only cabins for 5 people will show. Disney doesn't show all of the rooms that are available, they only show 4 or 5. If you see a room that you would like and the site doesn't show it, you can call Disney and ask for the cabin if it's available. Some people prefer cabins on the starboard(right) side of the ship because you get the view of the beach on CC when it docks there. The system always shows the port side rooms first, so if you want a starboard side room you would need to call or if you use a TA they could ask for a room on that side for you. Dreams Unlimited runs this board and many on here use them. If you are a CostCo member they also offer perks for using them. We aren't members, but have read about it on here.

I would call Disney directly or call a travel agent.
I called Disney to book our first cruise (Fantasy) and the agent was very helpful. They can help you select the right room on the deck you want. I wanted connecting rooms on deck 7 mid ship (less movement and sandwiched between staterooms above and below) and i wanted both rooms to have a pull down berth, which you can’t see on the website. He even made sure to pick starboard side for us so we would have a nice view at castaway.
