For those of you who are familiar with Newark (EWR), I need some opinions. I am looking at flights home for my April 2015 trip. 1) Depart MCO at 1000, 2.5 hour layover, Depart EWR to home airport at 310. 2) Depart MCO at 1120am, just over 1 hour layover, depart EWR to home airport at 310. Traveling will be my mom, hubby, almost 3 year old son and myself. The two options are the same price. Ideally, we'd like the 1120 flight as it would have a better pick up time for ME but I am concerned that the hour layover won't be enough time to bathroom breaks/diaper change. Thoughts?!?! United flights are in and out of the same terminal so that won't be a concern.

I would take a longer layover. My experience with Newark is there are always delays. I used to fly there for business, there were many times that we were held at my home airport because of arrival delays at EWR.

I flew through EWR twice in the past week, and all of my flights, all on United, were on time; in fact, two were early. An hour is plenty of time, especially if both flights are in the same terminal.

I agree with lost. If you would have said later in the day I would think twice. Barring weather You will be fine

I would guess it is the same flight departing EWR. I would probably pick the later flight out of MCO.

April you should be ok with around 90 minutes, but 60 is cutting it close.

One thing just because all United flights are in the same terminal doesn't mean they are close. if your flight comes in at gate C97 and your connecting flight leaves from C127, you've got quite a hike and if you're lugging a toddler or infant with you it's going to seem longer.

Now if there is any kind of weather (snow [not unheard of in April], wind, rain, sleet, too bright of sun [lol]) in the area your flight will be delayed, and now there are new flight rules for EWR which MIGHT delay flights even more.

EWR is my "home" airport so I don't worry about connecting through there but I would go with the longer time especially if everyone in your party isn't able to sprint ½ mile. Wouldn't you rather be safe (thinking "i should have gone with a closer connection") than sorry ("why didn't I listen?!?!").

just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary, batteries not included, coffee is hot, not valid in Bergen county NJ on Sundays.

This made me giggle. Not to hijack but the Sunday blue laws is hard to believe they still have them
