Hello,

Im new to the site and in the middle of planning on our families first trip to WDW in April.

Can anyone tell me how the park is in April? My husband wants to go over the spring break week since the kids will not miss school. The dates are April 3-10, 2010.

We have been to Disneyland and Disneyland Paris before and had a great time.

Thanks!

Shannon.

:yay: Hi and WELCOME!!!! We were there in April this year. We stayed from the 9th to the 26th April. In effect our arrival time was the same as yours will be - we arrived on the Easter weekend.

It was busy, but the upside was extra long park hours. Magic Kingdom for example was running EMH from 12 am to 3 am (EMH is only if you are staying at a Disney resort) and also opened an hour early every day over the Easter week. There are extra shows and parades compared with off -peak times of the year and fireworks every night at MK and Epcot. But with the extended hours all round, even if you are staying off property and don't get the EMH, it is still a LONG day from park opening to closing. You can work this to your advantage by getting to the park of your choice at opening time, do as much as you can until crowds get uncomfortable, then leave and take a break at your resort/hotel. Then come back after dinner and enjoy the fireworks and some more attractions. To be honest, we didn't really use the EMH too much as the days were long enough without them! It is only me and my daughter so the splitting up option some families use didn't help us.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL! In 16 days we had one thundershower (for about an hour or so) and blue skies for the rest. Humidity was also minimal if any. My daugher (7) can't handle extreme heat - we live in Scotland - and she found it fine. It is honestly our favourite time of the year to go. By the last few days of our stay into the following week (2 weeks after Easter) things had quietened down considerably, as had the crowds, and park hours were drastically reduced by comparison. I know everyone tries to avoid peak seasons but to be honest, having experienced both extremes back to back on the same trip, we missed the atmosphere and "extras" that the peak time offered.

You are going to LOVE it! There is a lot of planning involved, but that is half the fun. I am SOOOO excited for you. I have that tingly feeling as I type! If there is ANYTHING I can help you with, please let me know. If I don't have the answer I will do my best to find a place to direct you to for help. ENJOY! We are going again in October next year so there is a LONG gap between our trips this time, but April is calling me again and I haven't ruled out a trip then so who knows ..... we may even be there at the same time! Happy planning. This is a great site - everyone is super friendly and really helpful. I lurked on here for way too long before finally signing up to join in.

Oh, maybe you can help me out .... what was Disneyland Paris like compared to Disneyland CA? Paris is only a couple of hours from us, but every time I have done an online quote the price has been horrendous. In fact day for day, the cost is more than going to Florida - even with flights factored into the price...!!!! Just wondered if it is worth it for us. :confused3

Thanks in advance. :upsidedow

Thanks for all the great advice. Im really looking forward to going to WDW!

Disneyland Paris was a different atmosphere from Disneyland Ca. My family really enjoyed Disneyland Paris, the crowds were a little lighter in Paris then they were in Ca and we went around the same times. My husband prefers Disneyland Paris over Disneyland California. We got a really good price on the vacation to Paris, we drove there since we were stationed in Germany at the time. We stayed off site since we had 7 of us and it was a little bit cheaper that way. We also booked our vacation thru the military travel agent so that is why we maybe got a really great deal. We did go to both the parks they have there. The park in Paris seemed a little bit smaller then the one in California but Paris had a lot of new experience for us. If I remember anything else I will post it for you. Have a great day... Thanks again for the great information. It has helped alot. We were not sure if we wanted to go over the busy time, but it sounds like it has some good advantages.
