Hi Everyone-
I'm new to this board. I'm not even engaged yet (although it has been talked about and I'm hoping maybe by Christmas *fingers crossed* :rolleyes1 ) but I LOVE Disney and hope to one day have a Disney World wedding. So I just thought I'd look through the board and get some good advice, tips, and ideas.

I've read through some threads already but I don't know all the abbreviations like "DH" "PJ" or "TR". Or even some of the location abbreviations (I figured out WP = Wedding Pavilion)...i know, i know, i'm a quick one! heeheehee :upsidedow Is there a reference to these somewhere on here? Or can someone post a quick dictionary for me? lol I feel lost!

Thanks!

Welcome! :wave2:

Here is a link to a list of common abbreviations on the entire message board:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1660743

This includes DH (Dear/Disney Husband), ADR (Advance Dining Reservation), TIW (Tables in Wonderland), etc.

Abbreviations used frequently on this area of the board include

DF (Dear/Disney Fiance)
DFTW (Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings)
PJ (Planning Journal)
TR (Trip Report)
PTR (Pre-Trip Report)
DP (Dessert Party)

and then abbreviations for the various wedding and reception locations, like

SP (Sunset Pointe)
SBP (Sea Breeze Point)
LSS (Living Seas Salon)
AAR (American Adventure Rotunda)

These are just off the top of my head, so feel free to post any others and we'll all interpret! :rotfl:

I just wanted to say welcome!! (and don't worry- I think we were all lost when we first started reading these boards!)

I'll cross my fingers for you!:wizard:and a little pixie dust! Lol

Hi and welcome! I'm in the same-ish boat. Planning and hoping for a DFTW but not yet engaged. The brides, brides to be, etc. on this board are all so amazing! And basically lurkyloo can answer absolutely any question you have. :thumbsup2 I have a ton of thread bookmarked and sorted by subject, so I know you'll find everything you need here. (And a little pixie dust your way, :wizard:, because I totally know how it feels to need it.)

Hello! I'm in the same boat--- not quite engaged, but hoping for a Disney World wedding! :lmao:

I started my planning before I was engaged too! I even had the wedding booked for several weeks before our official engagement. I called it being "betrothed" .:rotfl2:

:littleangel: Thanks everyone! lol, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's jumping a little ahead of the gun!...wish my boyfriend was too :goodvibes Hey, I figure it's going to cost a pretty penny and we should know how much we need to save.... :teeth:

It is true, I'm already getting addicted to this board! :surfweb: I'm at work right now and I keep logging on during slow times.

Welcome to the DIS!! :goodvibes

Count me among the not yet engaged/hoping for a DFTW, too! :thumbsup2 I've been with my boyfriend for four years, but a wedding is still a ways away. We've talked about it and have tentative plans for a Disney wedding in a couple of years. No concrete dates or anything yet. At least I got him to agree to it!

Enjoy the boards! They're really addicting. :surfweb:

I didn't realize how many of us were not yet engaged and still planning on a DFTW! :rotfl: I thought I was all alone on this board.

I guess we'll just resign ourselves to being a future generation of DISbrides. :thumbsup2 Meanwhile, we can live vicariously through the current brides on the boards.

To be honest, having to wait longer makes me a bit nervous that there will be even more drastic changes to the rules for DFTWs by the time I get to be married there. Like how there are no outside photographers allowed for in-park weddings anymore. By the time we could finally get married, they could change the rules so you can't have any outside photographers at any DFTW. :guilty: Here's hoping that won't happen!! But of course, the prices for everything at Disney will have gone up even more by then.

Alright, I'm done dwelling on the negative! :yay: Back to reading PJs and TRs!

... Or maybe by then they will have seen the light and dropped the no-outside-photographers policy altogether! :rotfl:

Welcome!!! This board is amazing, you will find out so much useful information here. I'm getting married there soon, but I started looking at these boards before I was engaged too, lol. The day after he proposed I dropped the Disney Wedding Bomb on him:rotfl2: I felt kind of weird calling Disney for the first time because thanks to these boards I already knew all of the answers to FAQ, so it was a really short phone call. Have fun planning and reading the boards and *fingers crossed* that Christmas will be extra special for you this year!

ME TOO!! I've been thinking about that a lot. My boyfriend is kind of old fashioned and I don't think he would considered getting married till he's totally done with school. If I was lucky my dream date would be 0ct 12, 2011 but I'm thinking he still has 3 yrs since he just changed his major again this year. That means most likely 0ctober 2012. And, I was thinking the same thing; by then the restrictions and fine print are gonna grow and the prices are gonna soar! :headache:

Well, you never know...and anyway...it's more time to save! I think everyone struggles with budget at some point, so save early!
