New Yorkers who have taken Non-Stop flights to Hilton Head

I have tried to find trip reports from DIS members in the Trip Forums, but.....

Are the "very few" non-stop flights avaliable normally on the higher end compared to flights to Orlando all year round? What airline would you recommend from JFK/LGA? I have found many flights to CHS but do not have the stomach for connection/stops. Also, It seems to try for a flight to SAV to save 1hr off the drive to DVC HH, you must have at least 1 connection/stop to arrive at SAV from NY. It just seems easier to fly into CHS and drive the 2hrs.

Any imput from NY's who have flown to HH?

I would think you may have a tough time finding NYC to HH non-stop. HH has a small airport, so it would be a smaller carrier if you did find a flight.

Quite frankly if I were going to HH I would just drive it. The time savings is not worth the $1200 airfare and rental car fees to me.

Flying into Hilton Head Airport non-stop on a scheduled airline is only possible from Charlotte, SC. The flights are operated as US Airways Express flights by Piedmont Airlines on De Havilland DHC-8 Dash 8 propeller aircraft.

You can originate in many cities all over the United States, but you'll have to connect in Charlotte if you want to fly into Hilton Head Airport.

There are no non-stops to Hilton Head from the New York area.

However, there are non-stop, jet flights from into relatively close Savannah International Airport (on regional jets, not large jets). Continental offers service from Newark, and Delta from LaGuardia. (In both cases, the flights are actually operated by smaller airlines.)

I have only driven to HH and it was worth the trip. as far as flying, I have heard that people fly into Savannah and then rent a car and drive the hour trip to HH. I am not sure how much the flights are.
