New Yorkers or those familiar with the city...

We leave next week for our NYC adventure. Below I have our tentative itinerary, let me know what you think and make any recommendations. Thanks! Remember its 2 adults, one child (7) and a toddler. We have to take it easy.

Day 1:
Arrival in Lower Manhattan around 1 pm
Park car and store luggage
Walk around Battery Park and enjoy the area around the hotel
Check into hotel and make it an early night.

Day 2:
South Street Seaport
Staten Island Ferry (for a view of the SOL)
Plan to wander thought the neighborhoods (SOHO, Chinatown etc)

Day 3:
Central Park
The Zoo
Playgrounds etc...

Day 4:
Leave for home

I know it's very laid back and that we will miss a lot of the city but I don't want to be stressed out trying to see and do everything. We plan to return many times in the future so we will get a chance to see everything.

I like your plan, especially because of the kids. Your 7 year old may be bored with the "wander the neighborhoods" part but I bet you can find some neat places to stop in and visit.

For someone who plans to go back often I think it sounds great!

Hmm, time for me to plan a NYC mini-adventure of my own .

I don't know if they will get bored wandering around. I love walking around chinatown. It's so interesting. So many things going on. I think everyone will have fun.

My kids also love the zoo. We go every summer.

I think it's a great plan. Seriously. The only think I might suggest is taking one of the tourist boats out of South Street Seaport. It's going to be more expensive than the ferry, but more focused on sightseeing.
