Me too. Me too! I had hoped we would make it in 3 suitcases. Started seriously organizing and packing today and not sure it's going to be possible. Not looking forward to lugging 4 around in the airport. :rotfl2:

Just got my sail away shirt. Minnie dressed up like the statue of liberty. DF bought it at the NY Disney store for me today. The shirt is pink and Minnie is all sparkly. Looks like it could glow in the dark

Sounds adorable!

We are not taking warm pjs and are each taking a sweatshirt like jacket which we will use on the plane as a blanket. And we're each bringing a pair of jeans.

We are packing sweatshirt with hood and jeans for each, and a long-sleeved shirt for the family members who tend to be cold in the evenings or in A/C. Maybe they'll have blankets on deck like the Alaska cruises if it gets to chilly!!!!

I posed some questions over at the general Canada DisBoards, and I'm wondering if you guys have any thoughts on them here.

I read some great things at a Saint John cruise information site and wondered if some of them will apply to us even though we're docking at the Long Wharf as opposed to the terminal. For example:

Ships can dock at Pugsley A/B, right downtown with a covered cruise terminal for dispatching tours and the colourful Market Slip within a glimpse from the gangway! There are no line-ups for shuttle buses or lengthy waits for tenders from Pugsley A/B. Guests step off the gangway and into the heart of Uptown Saint John! Will this apply to us?

A warm smile and friendly greeting is waiting for each one of our thousands of guests! Our award-winning Meet and Greet committee is waiting for your guests, armed with maps, information, and a rose for each lady and pin for each gentleman! Will there be a group greeting us?

Your guests will be greeted by colourful displays with flags, banners, painted murals, and flower gardens, creating a wonderful atmosphere around the cruise terminal. This first impression of our city will make your guests yearn to discover more! Is the long wharf decorated too?

For the guests who wish to explore on their own, almost all of Saint John's top attractions are located within easy walking distance of Pugsley A/B. Other sites, such as the Reversing Falls Rapids or the Carleton Martello Tower, are a short and easily-accessible taxi ride away. Thoughts?

How sweet would it be to greeted by folks from Saint John?!! I don't want to get excited about something that only the Carnival folks will receive at the main terminal.

I also read that pipers and the Royal Mounties are greeting the first cruise - How about us? Has anyone heard/read that they are greeting all of the cruises?

Anyone have any insight? :confused::cool1:

We are packing jeans. I might take a light jacket or sweatshirt. I will check the weather closer to the time. Everything has to fit in carryons.

That would be Awesome the girls can meet. Do you think the air will veto cold for swimming?

We didn't see any excursion that really fit what we wanted to do in Saint John, so we are renting a car and driving up to St. Martin and the Fundy Parkway.

She will probably see my girls there (7 & 9). They spent much more time in the Club than the Lab on the Wonder, but they flowed from one to the other (and also in and out!) throughout the day. They are just hoping that they get a chance to swim. Even in Alaska, they were in the pool quite a bit.

Hi eveyone,

I am just back from seeing the Magic leave today. She did not leave until 5:22pm. The NCL Star left about 4 and looked to be under the bridge about 4:45pm.

Checked the forcast this morning. Looks great! 80 and sunny in NY, upper 70s and not too much rain in Canada. I think I'm going to pack mostlly shorts now instead of jeans. I bet it will still be cold on deck on the sea days so I'll bring sweatshirts for everyone.

AH!! 5 days!!

FYI, we checked the HOHO website and it's cheaper to buy the tickets through DCL. I guess it also saves a little time. Usually DCL has a huge markup on things but maybe HOHO gave them a discount.

I don't think so, at least for mine -- not considering the temperatures they were swimming in in Alaska! :rotfl: (of course, Disney kept the pool REALLY well heated on that trip. I guess we'll have to see what the water temps are on this one. But it would really take a lot to put them off!)

I called Disney this morning, and while I was on the phone I asked them about the dining rotation. Just like when I called a few months ago, I was told that semi-formal night is Monday (second night) and pirate night is Wednesday (fourth night). Last time I asked, I found it strange that the last night wouldn't be the 'Til We Meet Again menu or some other special menu, so I asked her three or four different ways about the menu for each night. She confirmed that semi-formal night would have a "special menu that is the same in all three restaurants" (her words), but she couldn't tell me which menu it would be (e.g., Captain's Gala, 'Til We Meet Again, Prince and Princess).

Although I still think it's odd that the final night would be a rotational menu rather than the 'Til We Meet Again menu or some similar menu, that is clearly what she said. Based on the number of times and different ways I asked, there was no possibility of a miscommunication. Unless she was just plain wrong, our nightly menus will be as follows:

Sunday: Rotational Menu
Monday: Semi-Formal Menu
Tuesday: Rotational Menu
Wednesday: Pirate Menu
Thursday: Rotational Menu

I'm still a little skeptical, so I hope that we get some early reports from the June 10 cruisers. If not, we'll all find out together when we board less than a week from today!

BalooHoo, I think it's because DCL is treating these cruises like a longer short cruise instead of a shorter long cruise. They seem to be modeling the 5-nighters from the carribean.

I'll be happy if they offer lobster one night.

Thanks for getting us up to date info

I'm packing mostly shorts and one pair of capris and one pair of jeans and one jacket. Other than that I'll be in summer clothes and suffer the consequences.

I am very excited. :yay: I just booked myself and my kids, DS-12 and DD-6, on this cruise. My husband is going to be away on business and now we will be away too. Looking forward to meeting you all on the Magic.

Welcome!

OK - just about ready! Found a reasonable hotel in Manhattan (had switched to out at LGA, but this was only $77 more so probably a wash with cab fare - DoubleTree Times Square South).

FE gifts in progress!

Now to get some dry cleaning done and pack! We fly out Saturday morning.

See you all soon!

Jeff

For the non formal nights short are NOT ok..correct?

Jeans are ok however? With short sleeve polo?

Formal night shirt and tie enough? Or do we need a jacket as well?

Thanks,

Vince

Here is what the DCL site says. I believe we only have a semi-formal night like a 4 night (they only have listings for 4 night and 7 night, so I combined them):

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Two additional "cruise casual" nights—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One semi-formal night — for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.
Final night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops

Dress code at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit
Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

I've been checking the weather in Saint John and Nova Scotia and today the temperature in Nova Scotia was 53 while the temp in Saint John was 70. I was surprised there was such a jump in between them.

I'm in New York all this week and I'm super excited to get on the ship! Is anyone else in the city doing things this week?
