We have taken our three children (3,5,7) a number of time before (and again in December). I don't really know where to start, but we enjoyed the following with them -
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (a great show, in a stunning brand new theatre. Expensive but a wonderful production).
FAO Schwarz is a wonderful "traditional" toy store without the modern toys such as video games and action figures. They have a simply wonderful little ice cream store/sweet shop on the first floor, with some mouthwatering items. There is also a grand piano on the first floor which children can walk on and play.
There is a new
"Toys 'R' Us" in Times Square. It has a wonderful carousel and a huge selection of toys at quite good prices. The theming here is wonderful!
Our 5 and 7 year olds actually really enjoyed the
Empire State Building. There is in audio tour you can purchase ("Tony") and DS (5) was fascinated by it! The same goes for the
Statue of Liberty. MAKE SURE you order your (free of charge) tickets for entrance online. The only way to get into the statue is by pre-ordering - they never have any tickets for the same day. You can order the entrance tickets plus the circle line boat tickets from
Statue Reservations
The Natural History Museum is incredible. They have so many different exhibits and areas - it is easy to spend a whole day (but our children were fed up by lunchtime - it's still a museum!). The underwater exhibit is particularly impressive, and the staff are very helpful and friendly with the children. Your DS should also be old enough for a
helicopter ride. This was definitely the highlight of our trip. The helicopter flies so close to the Statue of Liberty that you can almost touch it. We used "Liberty Helicopters" but there are other companies too.
The
UN building tour was very boring and our two younger children were quickly irritated and wanted to leave. I can't say I found it very interesting either!
There is a
little zoo and centre at Central Park, but it isn't very impressive. It's good for a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle. Our two boys actually just enjoyed spending some time relaxing in the park with a ball by the lake!
Sorry, I'm not sure about Good Morning America.
There is lots more, but this is all I can think of for now.
