New York State Civil Service Exam?

Has anyone taken this exam lately? And if so, what kind of questions are asked?

I can't speak for New York, but I know that in Illinois there are probably 100 tests. It all depends on the title of the job, they range from something like File Clerk level all the way to Rocket Scientist level. In Illinois you have to declare what test you are taking....its not like you go take the test and then they tell you what you are qualified for. Illinois offers test taking seminars so you can prepare and go in taking a test that you will probably be qualified for.

Thanks! It is a specific field of work, so I guess I'll have to find out "which" test it would be.. (Not for me - for someone else who is interested in taking it..)

My husband took the civil service exam in Austin, TX for firefighters and he said there was some simple math, reading passages then questions on the passages, and how you socialize with people.

Thanks! It is a specific field of work, so I guess I'll have to find out "which" test it would be.. (Not for me - for someone else who is interested in taking it..)

Also, if it is a field that requires a special license, Law, MD, DDS, RN, (you get the picture), they will have to bring a copy of that too.....(at least in Illinois you do), have I said Illinois enough?
