We will be at WDW from the 31st for a week. We thought about Epcot for NYE, then either MGM or MK for NYD. Any thoughts? We want to be able to see some decorations and a lighted tree b4 they take it down and we don't want to miss the Osborne lights. For our second day, would you recommend MK or MGM? And on the 3rd day, which would be Jan 2 will Osborne still be lit? I think it said THROUGH the 2nd as in not ending until the 3rd.

Also, Park Hopping may be touch and go on such busy days as Dec 31 and Jan 1, no? I wonder if it may make sense to hop from MGM in the morning to MK late in the afternoon on the first, or if we just need to stay in each park all day, which sounds daunting going from 8am until 1 am :) I wonder if MK would be more special on Jan 1 or if it would be exactly the same and a lot less crowded on the 2nd. Also, are the fireworks any different on new years day night as they are for new years eve? Thanks.

Decorations will still be up. Some of the special entertainment (like Epcot's Candelight Processional) will be over.

Park hopping will be pretty much out of the question on the 31st. We did the Studios for NYE last year because I've never seen the Sorcery in the Sky Fireworks. It was fairly busy all day and seemed like everyone was packed onto Hollywood Blvd for the countdown. We would hear reports of parks being closed due to capacity.

Then of course, we slept in on NY day. ::yes:: We were able to go to a park after lunch... just don't remember which right now.

I know the MK goes back to the regular afternoon parade and not the Christmas parade on January 2. Not sure when the decorations come down.

We have spent the past few NYE in Epcot and believe me when I say it is CROWDED. We got in last year around 10:00 am and my boyfriends son ran to Test Track for a FP. At 10:00 am they were giving FP for I believe it was around 10:30 pm. We know the park is going to be crowded and we go quite often so we just take it as it comes and do what we can do. Make sure you get your hats and noise makers. They give these out around 6:00 or 6:30. Once they have given these out, the park gets very LOUD.
