Sorry to go off topic, but to answer PP...
I never saw kids till the teen years with braces either, but it is different now, the way it was explained to me by our doctor was that it is easier to guide their teeth and bones as they are still growing as opposed to correcting them after they have grown. DD11 had phase 2 braces and a Herbst at the same time till November, then the Herbst came off and more braces went on. She did so well getting it off early and they said it was cause she was young and it was easier for her bones to move (plus she wasn't as self consious as she would be in a few more years, but that was a side benefit.) Yeah, ask the dentist, plus like I said it gived you time to shop for someone who works well with you.
