What is everyone doing for excursions? Any ideas yet? We can start booking next Sat and I have NO clue for once! We were thinking about doing them all on our own. We've been to St thomas before but not San Juan (I was there once for a cruise that left from there but didn't see much) Anyone know if you can do the port justice on your own? this will be our 6th DCL cruise and we've always booked excursions thru Disney so this is uncharted territory for us...

Was thinking about a snorkeling tour. which one will you do? It's hard to decide since my kids are 6 and 10 and the 6 yr old cant do all of the tours. Since I'm booking early I can let everyone know whats avail ;)

Also I heard there are no princess tea parties or character breakfasts on the Fantasy. Anyone one know if this is true? I can't imagine no character breakfast!!! :sad2:

We just switched our cabin :cheer2: (my DH decided he didn't want to go without a verandah and we had originally booked a virtual porthole cabin way back when we booked it on our Alaska cruise because we thought it would be fun for the kids )

Since he is now happy, it is safe for me to say we'd like 4 wristbands if we can still put in an order? (2 adults and 2 children) and would love to be a part of the FE

our stateroom is now 10084 and its me (Paula), DH (Joey), DS (10), & DD (will turn 6 day before cruise!)

Got it :cool1: 4 wristbands 2 adults - 2 children :cool1:

We have plans for the Catamaran Champagne and Snorkel in St John and for the Bacardi and Old San Juan in Puerto Rico, for CC just a relaxing day and will decide that once on the ship.

It's time to talk about wristbands so I'm going to take charge of this.

Why wristbands you may ask ? Well, 1st becouse they are fun, 2nd becouse we need them to identify ourselves all over the ship, 3rd. Some of us use them as night lamp in real dark staterooms, 4th. becouse they are cool

Last year I used this company for our Med Cruise and they delivered a very good product and on good timing, so unless anyone has a better option I'll stick to it. http://24hourwristbands.com/

This is what I'm proposing:
Silicone Glow in the Dark Wristbands

I'm feeling so upset! I just called to enquire about insurance as I want to buy our plane tickets very soon, but it looks like I can't purchase any, and I'm not sure I want to travel without it!

The issue is that my mom has ovarian cancer and although she has had it for 15 months and had her chemo and surgery and is now feeling fine, her last bloodtest showed that the cancer has probably come back and she is scheduled for a CT scan to see for sure and to decide the next plan of treatment. My mom isn't traveling with us, but in case she has a turn for the worst and is on deaths bed, I want to be able to cancel my trip.

So, should we just go ahead and buy insurance that covers my family and have faith that she will be okay, or do I cancel the trip? I really don 't want to cancel the trip, but I won't lose any money now if I do, and with flights and the cruise it'll be about $15,000. That's a lot of money to gamble with.

What should I do? The insurance provider suggested that I wait until my mom's appointment on October 10 (4 days before the paid in full deadline) to see what the oncologist said and then buy the flights and insurance, but it seems so long to wait.

AAAAAAAA! Need some advice.

Try a different insurance company, do a search on the boards, I've been reading them looking into it too. Shop around but read the fine print! Best to write down a bunch of questions and speak with a person than to take risk of missing fine details :-) good luck!! Sorry about your mom, I'll keep her in my prayers! My mom just made it through breast cancer so I completely understand how you feel! Be strong for her.

I'm very sorry to see your mother's health situation.

All I can strongly recomend is do get insurance, with anyone, including maybe with your credit card company, some offer some deals. We have always booked with insurance from DCL, it's defenatly a large investment.

I guess your mother's doctor should give you a very good assesment and with that you can make a decission that gives you peace of mind.

Hoping it all turns out for the best.

Just heard back from the insurance store and it turns out the person I was speaking with was incorrect. She spoke with the manager and he said that YES, I could get insurance that will cover my mom and my family.

That makes me happy. I can get insurance from anyone to cover my family, but I want to covered in case my mom takes a turn for the worst and I have to cancel my trip.

Thanks for the advice. I'll post again once I know more.

Also I heard there are no princess tea parties or character breakfasts on the Fantasy. Anyone one know if this is true? I can't imagine no character breakfast!!! :sad2:

I was on the hunt for the same answer about a month ago and read (on too many DIS posts, blogs and tip websites to remember exactly where) this is unfortunately true. The reason seems to be that the restaurants on the Fantasy [and the Dream as well] are "too large" and the characters would never get to visit all the tables in time before the event is over. I'm more bummed about it than my daughter is because I really wanted to try a tea party. :sad1: But I remember a post saying the consolation is more character appearances around the ship. I hope that part is true.

I also remember seeing somewhere they may stop doing the breakfasts and tea parties on all the ships. I hope that part is NOT true. Our next cruise is on the Magic so I'd like to experience at least 1 character breakfast at sea in my lifetime.

What excursions are you all doing?

We are doing the full day caribbean sail and snorkel, but think the Puerto Rico excursions are disappointing. I really want something cultural not beachy, so leaning toward the old and new tour of St. Juan. Wondering what everyone else is doing and why. I'm excited to go to Puerto Rico and was hoping for a really good all day excursion that featured a meal and lots of history, but alas, nothing is jumping out.

We have plans for a Catamaran Champagne and snorkle in St John, it's a real paradise and for San Juan the Bacardi Rum Destilery and Old San Juan Tour. Fun/history/Culture/Rum taste.

Good thoughts for your Mom and your family :lovestruc keep us posted.

We weren't gonna do much off ship this time since we've been to St Thomas/St John 2x before (and the St John Tour is AWESOME if you've never done it) but also had hoped for something better in San Juan. Nothing really jumped out at me as being WOW either.

As far as the Tea and Character Breakfast...I am REALLY bummed about the breakfast (although it has gotten kinda slack over the last few cruises...they used to do a big dance party in the middle with the characters after the table rounds but hadn't the last 2 cruises we did) and the Tea...well we finally got to do it on our Alaska Cruise (Wonder) and I wasn't that impressed. My daughter had already seen all the princesses at EVERY meet and greet before it and honestly had more time with them at those than the tea. We only sat at our tables for 2 minutes and then once the princesses arrived (it was Ariel and Tianna at ours) all the kids went up on the dance floor for an etiquette/ dance lesson (you couldn't see from our table anyway!)
So...you aren't missing much for the tea...but the BREAKFAST! It's so expensive at the parks that I look forward to it on the cruise:sad:

I'm right there with you about the breakfast. We did our very first CB at Disneyland this past June. It was so much fun! My daughter got tons of autographs and I loved every picture we took with the characters. So I was really looking forward to it on the cruise. I know I'm worse than a kid by saying this, but it's not fair. The other boats got to do it. Why can't we?
