Anything different for Epcot restaurants for NYE? First time going over holiday. Know it will be crowded but staying until 1/06 so hopefully will not be crowded the whole time but really want NYE to be special any tips?

We will be there at the same time! :) I have never had New Year's dinner at Epcot, we always have it at Citrico's (Grand Floridian) you should check it out, it is really wonderful! They do a countdown at the lobby and they give you free champagne, they also release the balloons that you see hanging from the ceiling, right when the clock marks 12:00 ... I really love it!

We have been several times over NYE. Yes, it is crowded, but it would never stop me from going back. We LOVE WDW at that time of year!! We have never done NYE dinner in a park. We've always done resort days on NYE. I have been calling every few weeks to get info about NYE dining and as of now, they haven't released anything. In prior years the restaurants with special menus that come to mind were Citricos, Narcoossee's, and California Grill.

We will be there at that time too! I was also planning a resort day (maybe a few hours in a park very early), but am still figuring out where we should have dinner. It won;t be anywhere "nice" (ie we will have our 4 yr old twins!) but maybe Cape May, 1900 PF or something. We also have the DDP, which is so convenient! ANy suggestions?

We've done Artist Point twice and Boma once. Both were great.

Where are you staying? We will be at the Boardwalk. That's where we've been the past few years and they have activities and countdown type things out on the green. Then, you can see the fireworks from Epcot from the bridge between Boardwalk and Beach Club. That worked out perfectly for us. One year after Artist Point we took the ferry from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary and watched MK fireworks from the 4th floor viewing deck there. That was also nice but after the fireworks it took us an hour and a half to get back to the Boardwalk! If you're staying out of the parks I would recommed doing whatever they offer at your resort and avoiding the post-fireworks transportation madness.

Really looking forward to it! In all the years we've been DVC we have never seen the Christmas decorations.

Does anyone know when Disney will release details of special new years eve dinners for this year?
Would like to do Citricos....or maybe something at EPCOT
Debx;)

just let me say being at epcot on NYE last year was unbelieveable!! the best ever! the crowd control was awesome, easy to walk around and the fireworks were spectacular. we have thought about just going for the NYE weekend just to go to epcot!! we arrived at like 10pm too and it was fine to enter the park! i know that MK closed 3 times the week we were there(the week after christmas). it's an experience i will never forget, have fun!

Thank you so much for your thoughts:thumbsup2 We have done MK 2x's in the past and really want to do something different this year. I think you just may have made our NYE plans solid.

We are staying at SSR so i'm not sure what's going to be happening there. Maybe go into DTD for a little while. I know my kids will not be able to stay up until midnight so we'll have some fun until they zonk out i suppose. My husband complains that I make our trips very 'go go go' and we never get to just sit by the pool.....so here is his day!!! I'm just not a sit around kind of vacationer!

We've done 2 NYE at EPCOT and it was fantastic! Very crowded but we had a blast. E

One thing we were told and will pass along, the parks do close when they reach capacity during the day so pick a park and plan on staying! The fireworks were great. If you are at a park, remember the lines for busses will be long so be prepared unless you are staying at one of the ECPOT resorts.

SSR should be perfect for a DTD NYE! That way you can just walk back when the kids get too tired. Love that.

Does anyone know if you can get into a closed park if you have an ADR? I know there are different levels of closed and Disney resort guests are the last group to get shut out. We're thinking of doing Hollywood Brown Derby for dinner, but don't want to be without somewhere to eat if the park closes.
