Congratulations! I put myself on the wait list for a MK view studio for 12/27 -1/2 last week. We have a back-up reservation at BWV.

I just cancelled a 1br at animal kingdom for dec 31 - jan 3. Got lucky with a 2 br at wl.

Well, I think I got Jan 1 and 2, because I did not even TRY for Dec 30, 31. I am not even waitlisting for Dec 30/31. I will just pay cash.

We are booked at SSR for the 30th and 31st, but we waitlisted BLT and BWV and hoping for a miracle. We also got very lucky and booked BLT for the 1st to the 4th.

Keeping our fingers crossed.

We definitely are not arriving before NYD, but, haven't decided yet whether we will fly to MCO on NYD or 1/2.........however, I did get a BLT 2 bdrm lake view this morning for 1/3 thru 1/8 at the 7 month window.......debated whether I wanted to pay those weekend points for the 2nd or not.........decided against it. We'll stay for cash (hopefully, with an AP discount) at one of the mods for that first night or two.....most likely only one night.......we usually don't arrive at the airport until late afternoon or early evening anyway. Don't know how much I'm going to like looking across Bay Lake at VWL.......that's our favorite and usual abode for our January trip......we'll see.......maybe we'll get lucky and be able to get an AP discount for WL for our first night!!!!

We were staying at the WLV this past NYE.

We did not go to any parks and had a great time. During the day we rode a surrey at Port Orleans Riverside and then took the ferry to Downtown Disney.

In the evening, each deluxe hotel had professional photographers (until 9 P.M.) taking free family portraits in front of each hotel's Christmas tree. They zapped the pictures onto your photopass card. We decided to make an adventure of it and see how many hotel's we could get to before 9 P.M. (we had a car) to get the photos. After 9, we continued on with our own amateur photos. It was so wacky that we had an amazing time and great, happy photos to show for it.

We ended at the Beach Club and then walked over to the Boardwalk where they had a DJ and a dance party on the front lawn. We danced for a while and then decided to head back to our hotel at 11:30 to beat the traffic. We ended the evening down at the WL beach watching the MK fireworks, which blanketed the sky. We then moseyed on back to our room and got to bed at a reasonable time for the next day without any hassle.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great time!!!!

It's great that you've a place to stay for NYE! My guess is that your waitlists won't come through, however, here's some pixie dust to hope I'm wrong!

You might have a better chance at BLT than BWV because there could be additional BLT units declared into inventory. The downside is there is probably a hefty W-L ahead of you already at this point in time.... But, you never know.
Another factor is how motivated are you? Within 7 days, the W-L drops and you can call MS to see if there are any cancellations. It is just chance that someone might call before you call and they cancel their ressie. I think by the 7day or less point, most folks that had been on the W-L have made other arrangements...

I've got a 1 Bedroom at SSR for the 30th and 31st. I called at 9am on the 1st and booked a studio at BLT from the 1st to the 4th, I also waitlisted for the 30th and 31st right then and there.

I called back Mon and was able to get the nights of the 30 and 1st @AKV, so now all I need is the 31st @AKV! Does anyone think I'll be lucky enought to get it? I figured I have a better chance of getting 1 night vs. 3 nights. As a backup I booked 12/30-1/2 @ Pop cause I don't want to have to move on NYE!

Hey, does anyone know what time they start taking family photos by the Christmas trees at the resorts? Do they do this other days or just NYE? Thanks!

We've done Epcot twice and MK once. Neither were that bad. This year I think we'll try the Studios. Does anyone have any experience with NYE at the Studios? We're staying at BCV.

I think we're also gonna try to see the practice run of the NYE fireworks at the MK the night before. Does anyone have any info on that, either?

Don't give up hope because sometimes people like me cancel....two years ago I cancelled BWV 2 bdrm BWV and 2 standard studios for 12/26-1/2. The CM commented on happy I'd make others.

Yeah you can have ours. I'm not flying DH in on NYE so we had a savannah view studio just for him on 12/31 that I will be canceling. PM me and we can coordinate a call time.

We did that this past December 30th and it was wonderful! The MK was opened still later, so after the fireworks there was still plenty of partying going on. DH and I were beat, so we took a bus back. We just missed the BWV bus, but there was one going to BC and we took that. We were back in our room well before 1 AM. The fireworks were fabulous. We can't go back this year, but we fully expect WDW to be a NYE tradition from next year on!
