We have been looking at going to WDW Jan 1, 2007. We hadnt thought much about actually spending the weekend there and being there for New Years to kick off our trip. I know crowds will be crazy, but when will they slow down?

Also, are there special events, hours etc for New Years?

Which park has best fireworks? And if you have been there before, where did you ring in the new year?

It will be holiday rates for a few days and then value rates, so would we need to make two reservations? If you do that, and are at the same hotel, what are the chances of you getting to stay in the same room?

We have been to WDW twice for NYE. Both times we spent it at the MK. No matter what park you decide on, make sure to get there by 10am because they all close due to capacity by about 11am. Both times that we have spent NYE at MK, we didn't plan to ride many rides. We did a few in the morning until the lines got long then did a couple of fast passes. We watched parades, snacked, took pictures and just did people watching. Our last trip (NYE '04) we had dinner reservations at LTT and that was very fun and relaxing! We got to go in the Rose Garden with the ABC crew but I don't think we were ever on TV but the kids LOVED the prospect of being seen! The fireworks were wonderful. We worked our way down Main Street in the crowd (although I won't do that again - and we'll be back again for NYE this year!) but we stood in the empty train station for a long time watching the people. We waited about an hour for our bus back to POP (which is why I'll stay in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland until they kick us out this year!) but overall, we really had a great time.

Just go with little or no expectations and let things happen. We're making our third trip this year because we really do enjoy it!

Good Luck!

MGM-Studios is supposedly the least busiest of all of the parks on New Year's Eve. Has anyone ever heard of them closing at capacity early in the day?
