New Years Eve is a little sad for me every year....I used (when I was a little girl) to spend New Years Eve with my grandmother and we used to stay up till midnight and sing Auld Lang Sine.. I cry every year when I sing it...I miss my Mema and this will be another year that I will be without her.. I love you Mema..

So what is your tradition?

We stay home drink champagne and eat left over homemade chocolate truffles

My tradition is actually for New Year's day and that's having my entire family (over 30 members) over for dinner. We eat, watch football and play games.

My immediate family (DH, DD24, DD20, and DS 16) stay home and play games, watch the ball drop, drink champagne, then bang pots and pans and shoot off confetti poppers out on the front porch at midnight. Sometimes friends will join us, sometimes my sister and her family, but it's usually just us. For some reason, my kids as they've grown have still preferred our corny low-key New Year's Eve over parties they are invited to and they drag their respective boyfriends, girlfriends with them. So we will have our new son-in-law (well, he's new as a SIL, but he's been around for 7 years!), a boyfriend and a girlfriend too....ALL spend the night! I think DD20's friends are joining us too but some of them leave around 11 for more lively age-appropriate parties! ;):cool1:

We used to alternate with my dad's family but over the years the families have grown up & drifted apart so we don't do much.

I stay home and go to bed early. Need a good night's sleep to watch the Bowl games!

Back in my younger years, we'd take the kids and go across the street to the neighbors' house, for a group "slumber party". We all had PJs and robes on. Once the kids were asleep upstairs, we watched really bad and cheesy rented porn movies, ate Orville Redenbacker popcorn, and got drunk on Coors beer. We just all spent the night there! We did have a "Designated" person to stay fairly sober....to get up early and make breakfast for the kids, though.
